  The time of year, time of day, and location of the wedding usually do impact on the choice of colors, but ultimately it's up to you.
  
  Darker colors are usually more appropriate for evening weddings and fall/winter weddings, and lighter ones for daytime and spring/summer weddings, but there's no rule of etiquette about it-it's more a matter of personal taste.

  We are planning a summer evening wedding in June. Our sons will be four and our daughter will be five. 

  
  

  I haven't picked any bridesmaids yet.  We are wanting to wait until the wedding gets closer and my sister who I asked to be my maid of honor just found out she's pregnant and may not be able to attend now.

  a few things to consider:
  
  what are the guys suits/tuxes? black?
  what are your girls comfortable wearing? what colors do they look good in?
  are you a matchy-matchy person, or is it ok for you to have them coordinate but not match?  if you're ok with it, then the BM don't have to match the FG.
  
  personally, i'm not a fan of bright colored dresses unless i know the girls look good in that color.  I might do a neutral color dress, with colored sashes and shoes.  it helps the color stand out (and is easier to see flowers too!)

  if you have a turquoise sash, I think the turquoise dress would be a good choice for the bridesmaids, but that can even depend on the dress.  When the time comes (your ticker is saying 2 1/2 years!) have them try on dresses in both pink and turquiose and see what looks better.  You can always do a black dress too with pink flowers or something.  FG can wear pink even if the bridesmaids do not, and RB I think should still to black suit with black or white tie-- but I just am not a fan of colored vests and whatnot.
