  As long as you know what kind of look you are going for, you should be fine. When we picked out the tuxes for my wedding, we told the sales person what color scheme we wanted, and she would put the different pieces together to show us how it would look. We went with browns and golds, so she would put the ties, vests, and jackets in different combos so we could see which we liked the best.

  We didn't really go in prepared to ask questions when we looked at Men's Wearhouse.  We just gave them an idea of what we wanted and they showed us samples of the tuxes they had, different color swatches, and we went from there.  Once everything was picked out they told us when all the men had to be fitted and wrote everything down for us.  They do this all the time and should cover any questions that you may have had and if you happen to think of something after your appointment then just call.

  The question is "$40 off of -- What?"  If you don't know the base price, you don't know if the coupon has any value or not!
  
  
  Said differently, without the coupon - how much does it cost?  $40 off  doesn't mean anything if they raised their prices $40 to accomodate the coupon.
  
  You should feel pressured to make a decision about this. Call around to get the actual prices of tuxedo rentals.
  
  Which would be better if the quality is the same - A $10 off coupon where the price is $120? Or a $40 off coupon where the price is $180?
