Must he love the dress too?

I personally want my fiance to love my gown...and i'm not opposed to him seeing me in it prior to the ceremony.
And, as usual, I wonder how you ladies feel- so weigh in!

Your FI will love whatever dress you pick because you will be the one wearing it. Don't worry about it.

I don't get my husband's approval for anything else I wear, why would I seek it for my wedding gown?

I am not worried at all, he thinks I am beautiful in sweats after I get off a 10 hour bus trip. He will like it cuz I am wearing it, he has already asked me to keep it for his daughter/my stepdaughter to be, or our future children together, without knowing what it looks like.

I certainly hope he loves it, but I know that he'll love it because I love it, and it makes me happy.

That said, I was really worried in the beginning. The top of my dress has ruching, and FI would say that he hates that look when he saw it on tv shoes or in bridal mags...but then after a while he realized how flattering it was on (especially on Say Yes to the Dress, where a girl would wear one without ruching, and then she'd wear one with it and look 20 lbs lighter) so he changed his mind and now likes it.

I never told him that my dress has ruching, and he won't find out until I walk down the aisle, but it was making me a bit nervous there! But in the end I had to remember that he's going to love me in anything, because it's the day we're getting married.

I picked my dress because I love it, and it makes me look fantastic. FI will love it bc I'm wearing it, and that makes me happy. But, he probably wouldn't ever, ever tell me if he didn't like the dress. He's nice to me like that.

Ms.Bunny, I kind of have the same situation you do. My fiance likes really simple, fitted styles. I picked a dress with an empire wait and lace and beading and just really different kind of dress. I explained to him a little bit about it and he doesnt really care for the style (it's not his thing) but that he is sure I will look wonderful.

I would be dissapointed if he didn't at least like it, and I know he will cause I'm gonna be in it

I actually went dress shopping with my FI but he does not know which dress I actually chose. Not that I wanted or needed his approval but NONE of my BM's could go due to family, work, distance and school. We did our dress shopping online and I then went to the store to try them on.

The dress I eventually purchased wasn't any of the one's i tried on but very similar so I know he will love it but still be surprised.

I'm pretty convinced that my fiance doesn't even know what he likes when it comes to wedding dresses! haha Early on I got some advice not to do the following (but I did it anyway): I showed him a bunch of pictures in magazines of dresses I liked and asked him what he thought. I got these kind of responses: "Oh yeah that's kinda pretty... Oh umm uhh... I dont like lace... I dont like all that beading stuff...That's really poofy...." Wow. I've come to the conclusion that my FI will absolutely love any dress I'm wearing because I'm wearing it and the same goes for your and your fiance!

He also told my dad when he asked if he could marry me that I could walk down the aisle in a garbage bag and he would still think I'm beautiful... I'm pretty sure he may have been stretching the truth to get the blessing though!!
