Butter pecan cake....

My FI had a cake tasting last night and were BLOWN AWAY with one of the choices, a butter pecan cake.  We definitely want at least one of the tiers to be this flavor.  What we are unsure of however, is it's popularity and how many people would actually like/want/try this flavor, as it's not the standard vanilla or chocolate.  No one has nut allergies on the guest list.  The other tier will be cinnamon vanilla with white chocolate mousse.

I hate pecan, but I love butter pecan cake.  I would eat it!

Sounds delicious to me.  I'll try anything but coconut though.

Butter pecan ice cream is one of my favorites, so I would love this.

I'd probably do a fruit filling or something plainer for the other tier, though.

Nothing personal, but somehow the above just doesn't sound right. I can't imagine white chocolate with a cinnamon flavored cake, but maybe that's me.

My question: How is your cake being served? Is the caterer just putting sliced pieces on a table for guests to take? Most people really don't care what the flavor is, as long as it tastes good. We had yellow cake with Passion Fruit Mousse. People didn't know what the flavor was, but they LOVED it. Just knew it tasted good, so they went back for seconds (some thirds!).

It sounds as though you both LOVED the flavor. I'm sure your guests will too.

It sounded weird to me too when my cake lady suggested it, but it was sooooooooo good!  FI and I really enjoyed it, along with the butter pecan sample.

It sounds good, but I wouldn't be able to try it at all.  I'm a nut allergy person.  And I would make sure the caterer would be able to cut the vanilla layer, which sounds absolutely amazing to me, with a separate knife for anyone who does have a nut allergy that you may not know about.  Truthfully, the cinammon vanilla white chocolate sounds like it would taste like eggnog - yummy!
