Who to Tip?

Does anyone know what is proper etiquette in tipping vendors? officiants? bands? string quartets?

What if you are paying an outrageous price for them anyways? Still tip?

Generally the rule of thumb is you tip someone if they don't actually own the business.  For example, if your photographer owns their own studio, no tip is required. If he is a staff photographer that works for someone else, then you tip him (or her).

Check your contracts first though, to make sure the tip isn't already included in the price.

Ditto Gail.  Definitely check your contracts to see if a tip is included (especially with your limo and venue.)

While the general rule is you don't have to tip someone who owns the business (because they keep the profits), you certainly can.  If a vendor went above and beyond, it certainly would be nice to receive a tip.
