NC engagement photo locations??

Hi Ladies!

I noticed in the Roll Call post that many of you are in North Carolina, so I'm hoping you might be able to help out...

Fi and I are hopefully getting our engagment photos done this month! He's stationed at Ft Bragg, and our photographer lives in Chapel Hill (although she'll be traveling to Ohio for the actual wedding.) I'm not super familiar with this area, and Fi can't think of anyplace in Fayetteville he'd want to do the pictures. Does anyone have suggestions for a good place in the Ft Bragg/Fayetteville/Raleigh/Chapel Hill region? I'm imagining outdoors, but it wouldn't have to be.

I'm not overly familiar with Raleigh or Chapel Hill (except that my FI hates Carolina and is die-hard Wolfpack, lol!) but I can tell you that I have not seen any decent places in Fayetteville/Spring Lake. I know military bases can be funny with taking pictures but the base would be the only place I can think of in the Ft Bragg area that has decent pictures. You should post on the Raleigh/Durham NC board if you haven't already. 2 hours west of Ft Bragg is Greensboro and Winston-Salem and there are some nice places there to take pictures.  Hope this helps!

When are you moving to Bragg? I'm in Winston now but I'll be moving down there after October!

YoungDuo - I'm actually not moving to Fayetteville, Fi will be PSCing this fall and we won't be living together until next summer, after I graduate school.

    I'll also definitely crosspost this!

You should ask the photog for her suggestions. If she's based in Chapel Hill, I'm sure she's done outdoor engagement shoots in the area more than once.

I'm a bit farther south, closer to Wilmington. I agree with PP, talk to your photographer. Any suggestions from your local board?

The Zoo!!!! haha.. My mom works there. There are actually alot of really pretty places at the Zoo. (30 mins south of Greensboro), Chapel Hill has the UNC Campus that's really nice.  NC is such an awesome state because you have the mountains and the beach.  I've heard great things about downtown Fayettville as well. The Raleigh/Durham/Cary area is super nice!!! I Love downtown Cary..

I don't know anything about NC, but I do know something about trusting your photographer!  I was up visiting my parents last weekend so we decided to fit in the engagement photos.  At first I asked my photogs to meet us halfway, but they asked us to take the ferry to Long Island since they knew some great places (specifically a vineyard, which was what we really wanted - I do know there are some good vineyards in NC, if you want to do that).  So having never been to Long Island in my life, we took the ferry and had the photogs pick us up.  Oh my goodness, the town they picked was SO DARN CUTE!  We took photos on a dock in front of an old ship (think pirate ship), by the water, against some gorgeous worn doorways, eating ice cream, and most importantly on a carousel!  They even shut down the carousel for us to ride it and take pictures - SO DARN COOL!

Anyway, all that to say that photographers are usually really good at recommending where to shoot.
