  Our wedding was on a Friday night and had 270 people at our reception. Aside from people not making it to the church and Friday night traffic, there really weren't any disadvantages for us.

  I am having a Friday wedding.
  Most of my cons are even though the invitations say "Friday, March 22nd", people still assume it is on a Saturday.  Also people complain about taking off of work or having to leave work earlier on a Friday.  Honestly they have enough time to request the time.
  
  Lastly, we saved so much money for our friday date and have so many "choice" vendors compared to those who have it on a Sat.

  One silly thing that came up for us and maybe it was just an uninformed family member. My aunt asked us if it was still a formal affair if it's on a Friday. We are having it at a really upscale place so I was surprised by that question. People get dressed up on Fridays, too!

  I've been to Friday weddings and it can be a bit of an inconvenience.  Even if the ceremony was at 6:30 I would have to at least take a half day from work. Not everyone can do that. 
  I think the disadvantage would be the inconvenience for some guests.  Of course there is no disadvantage for the person having the wedding...they save money (in most cases...not all weddings have a discounted rate for a Friday since they are more common now).
