Franklin Park Conservatory Brides...

Can anyone tell me about Franklin Park weddings? I'm having a hard time finding a reception venue and this was recommended to me. They do lots of events....and I was wondering if that makes it seem less like "your day"...

Thoughts???? Thanks for the help!

I am attending a wedding there on the 23rd so I will soon have more info I can share.  What I have heard from others is that some rooms, like the Palm House can get very warm so that's something to consider depending on the time of year.

This was a part of my top 3 choices.  It's GORGEOUS!  I did hear that you probably don't want to have your wedding at the Palm House during most of the summer, because it is super hot and humid.  Whether it feels like less of your day, I don't know.  I feel like they've been doing it long enough that they've got it down.

Our wedding and reception will be at Ohio State's campus.  Their new Union is absolutely gorgeous! If you plan on marrying in the summer or break, it is definitely a great place to check out.  (They don't do weddings when a lot of students are on campus, only summer, spring break and winter break).

I went to a wedding/reception in the Palm House during the summer a few years ago.  The wedding was supposed to be outside but rain was in the forecast so it was moved inside.  And like the others said, it was very humid.  Not too hot, but really humid.

Our wedding is at FPC this July.  We will have about 70 guests.  Depending on your numbers, they have other locations to host ceremony and reception, other than Palm House (which is beautiful!!)  Our ceremony will be outdoors in Brides Garden.  If you haven't been already, go see the place for yourself!  Oh, and depending on your rental space and day, price varies. The good thing though is you can choose from like 7 caterers so there's some flexibility there.  Great location!!!

My wedding is May 28th in the Palm House (ceremony on the West Terrace outside).  They do offer the ability to have cooling units in the room, which I will likely do if it's warm.  The fact they have a lot of events doesn't make me feel any less of it being "my" day.  When I first saw the Palm House it literally took my breathe away.  There just aren't a whole ton of options in Columbus and this is one of the most unique and beautiful venues in Columbus.  One other thing I really liked about it was that I could have my ceremony and reception in the same location.  And I really wanted an outdoor space available as well.

We looked at Franklin Park. I wasn't a fan of the extreme humidity in the complex, and the alcohol estimate for 100 guests was $5k. But, it is a lovely space and I think for a wedding that isn't during the hottest months of the year it could work really well. A friend of mine was married there and very pleased with the experience.

Our reception will be at fpc may 5, 2012 and can hardly wait. We are expecting 175 guests and booked the grand atrium over the palm house. Like then other knot ties said I was a bit concrerned about the humidity in the palm house. We toured their on a rainy day in March and it was fairly humid. Bonus on the grand atrium they have chilluy glass throughout the space! Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck!

May 19, 2012 FPC bride here :)  I went looking at the Veridian/Grove/Brides Garden combo and LOVED the outdoor spaces but wasn't crazy about the indoor.... then of course I had to see the Palm House.  I've been there before for several events and it's so gorgeous... but I didn't see it for my wedding - until I walked in, that is!  It's so unique and gorgeous, and just... wow.  And yes, it's humid in the mornings when they water the plants, but then it generally evaporates as the day goes on in non-summer months.

I personally wouldn't book it for a summer wedding (even with the terrace option) because of the heat, but spring/fall/winter, absolutely!

Pricing can be found online for the spaces. It's reasonably expensive but not out of control.  The assitance from the staff so far has been amazing, and I really liked the variety of preferred catering vendors.

    Go visit!

We looked at FPC for a venue as well, (Verdian, Brides Garden area) and the room for the reception was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Very beautiful area (I love flowers!!) but there is no way 130 people were going to fit in that reception room comfortably. Plus, we could only afford the "day" pricing so FPC would've been open to the public and we weren't sure we liked the idea of random people just walking around our reception/ceremony. We saw the reception room with 8 tables in it (each table holds ten people) and the room was practically full! I wasn't sure how 5 more tables were going to fit, plus the cake, catering tables and a dance floor. BUT, it was VERY beautiful. I can imagine it would be a wonderful place for a wedding. :)
