Good arm workout

So I just started to work out for my wedding that is a little less than a year away. The one thing that I really want to focus on is my arms. I want my arms to look good in my dress but I am not sure how to tone them. I do about 40 push ups a day but I am not seeing more improvement. I guess I am trying to focus more on my triceps. Any suggestions?

Re: Good arm workout

  • Chair dips and tricep extensions (with weight) specifically focus on the triceps.  You can find demonstrations on google I'm sure.

  • Switch up your pushups - wide arms, military, regular, and triangle (triangle ones are for triceps.)

Also, chair dips and good old arm weights - bicep curls, shoulder presses, etc.

  • You really should incorporate cardio and watch your diet to see any kind of definition in your arms.  You can build muscle till the cows come home, but unless you do it in conjunction with the other things, you probably won't be that satisfied with the results.
  • doing arm circles will help tone your shoulders/arms without adding too much bulk from muscle.

stand (or sit. i do these in front of the TV sometimes) with your arms straight out to the sides like an airplane.  make tiny circles with your arms.  I typically go 1 minute doing forward circles, and then 1 minute doing backward circles.  you can add light weights, or incorporate arm raises or other movements when it starts to get easy for you.
