Bartender

Anyone know any good deals for hiring a bartender only? We would like to purchase and provide all the alcohol ourselves - but is it better to pay one set price for a bartender including cups, ice, soda, etc ($8.00) a person, or rent all the cups and supplies and provide non-alcoholic beverages ourselves and the bartender alone will be $350?

Re: Bartender

  • White Glove Service offers bar tending services plus all the fixings for a bar (cups, stirrers, ice, mixers ect.). My advice is to buy you own liquor licence/policy via wedsafe which is what we did because it saved us more money than to purchase through the bar tending service. Most venues require vendors to provide liability insurance which most bar tending service providers offer. There are not too many in this area but White Glove, A Perfect Pour LLC are to name a few.
  • RoyalOrient- Can you explain more about buying your own liability insurance? I had no idea we could do this.

  • ^ When we purchased wedding insurance (as required by our venue) we had the option to purchase a host liquor liability insurance. We wanted to have an open bar but we wanted to provide our own alcohol. We also wanted to save as much money as possible because of our budget. Our venue only required the host (us) to provide liquor liability insurance either through our caterer or bar tending company. They would have to hold a valid Class P liquor license. We compared the cost between buying our own liquor license or using the bar tending company (The Perfect Pour LLC) or caterer (B& M Clambake & Catering) and found Wedsafe to be the least expensive. We purchased the wedding insurance and the host liquor liability insurance for $175. It was simple and easy and a copy was forward to the venue and the vendors (caterer/bar tenders) We bought all of our hard liquor wholesale from New Hampshire and hired 2 bar tenders since we had 200 guests. They provided all the fixings for the bar (ice, juices, heavy duty plastic drinkware, stirrers, soda, mixers ect.) and the beer (all unopened packages were returned by them) for $800. We spent an additional $1100 on  premium alcohol like Grey Goose Vodka,  Absolute, Moet & Chandon Champagne and other good stuff. We used an alcohol calculator and based it on our crowd to figure out how much to buy.

Keep in mind some caterers will not allow you to bring in your own alcohol if they have a policy against it - even if your venue allows you so double check with them but both my caterers (yes, I had two separate caterers, one serving authentic Asian cuisine and the other serving classic American comfort food) Jackie's Galaxy and B & M Clambake and Catering were okay with it.
