Opinons please

I am starting to think about our wedding favors (we decided to do hats/tiara's and noisemakers for NYE) I was originally going to buy 200 items. 50 hats/ 50 tiara's 60 foil horns and 40 noisemakers. That would be just about 1 item per person. FI said last night he thinks we should put the items on a side table with a note saying thank you, so each person can grab if they want. Then he suggested we only order 125 items. Saying that everyone wont take one of these things. What are your thoughts? I was assuming I should buy 200 items but now he has me 2nd guessing myself. if you think I should do 200 noisemakers and then like 100 hats that could work.

** Let me also add that I plan on getting some glow in the dark things that go around your neck.**

I don't think you need one for every guest. Maybe enough for 50-75% of your guests.

Sounds cute!

He's right.. Some people won't take everything. If I had had my hair done for a wedding I, most likely, wouldn't take a hat. However, it may be strange to not have enough for everyone.

I would go with your original plan. 1) You're getting married on NYE so your guests will be extra festive. 2) It's NYE! lol....I think people have a tendency to get into the hats, horns and noisemakers. I think you may be better off have more than less IMO.

I think it's better to have more than less - I'm not sure everyone would only take one...some people might grab a hat and a noisemaker.

The cost difference is $150. Thats kind of a lot I think for throw away things. Do we think the glow in the dark things are tacky or fun?

I'd order enough for everyone to have a hat and a noise maker of some kind. Just order generic hats (not 2011 hats) that way if you have a bunch left over use them to throw an awesome anniversary NYE bash at your place ; )

Would it be a big cost difference to order more noisemakers/horns than hats?

I can picture my H taking a noisemaker, maybe, but not a hat. I'd definitely take a noisemaker, and maaaybbbeee a hat if it wouldn't screw up my hairstyle.

I agree with getting generic NYE stuff and not 2011. You could recycle it for the next year like PP said, or donate leftovers somewhere (maybe a nursing home or hospital?), or sell it to another NYE bride in a few months.

I think I would order enough noisemakers for about 75% of the guests and then a smaller number of hats and tiaras, just because people might not want to wear them because they dont want to ruin their hair, etc.

I am on the fence about the glow in the dark stuff. On one hand, it sounds fun, but on the other, I am not sure I would grab one. Seems festive for the occasion though...

Agree that I would order more noisemakers than hats. I do also like the idea of glow in the dark necklaces. Just another option for someone who doesn't want to wear a hat.

I was actually thinking that people may take more than one-like maybe a hat and a noisemaker--but then there will be people who don't take anything. I would probably order enough for everyone. That should even out people who take more than one and those who don't take anything.

I would not get glow in the dark stuff. FI and I went to the Giants game this weekend where they handed out glow necklaces for breast cancer awareness. Mine had a leak and ruined my sweatshirt. I'm really bummed about it, but if it ruined a nice dress I bought for a wedding I'd be crazy PO'd.

I would take a hat/tiara and at least one noisemaker. I love NYE and esp after drinking tend to go all out with it. No, not everyone will take something, but some may take multiple things. I'd go with having more.

<div>I agree with this too. I'd maybe do noisemakers for everyone (I think those could look cool on their napkins at their placesettings, if they go with your decor), but hats for maybe half. Love the idea of glow in the dark necklaces, and they're cheaper than hats. And I'd maybe throw in a few more things that are also cheaper than hats, so everyone (in theory) could end up with a noisemaker + another accessory. </div><div>

I like Uppereast's idea of noisemakers for everyone, it could be really cute putting them at each place setting. I can't imagine putting on a hat or a tiara, but that's not really me, I would use a noisemaker or confetti or something fun like that though.

I was at a NYE wedding this past year. More people put on hats (or NYE necklaces) than used the noisemakers. The couple actually had the staff put a few of each item on each table at about 11:30 (the wedding was until 1:00). Some people actually left right after cake and didn't stay through the New Year celebtration and I think it was better to put stuff on the tables. If one person wanted an extra of something and another table had more, they went over and grabbed it. By that point, most people were on the dance floor and there were still extras so I wouldn't think one per person...you could cut back to about 75-80%
