Engagement Photo Locations?

Any suggestions for where to do our engagement photos?  We'll be taking them in mid-June, and I have no clue where to go.  I know City Park charges $50 unless you're getting married there, any other places have fees??

    We did our day after pictures just walking around the Marigny, no fees, great backgrounds :

    Jackson Square charges $40 for a permit.  I didn't know that you needed a permit for City Park.  I just went there with my photographer and no one stopped us.  There were several other couples taking engagement photos too.

    Yeah, typically people don't get "caught" without the permit if they just go to City Park (although apparently they do check periodically).  If we're going to go there, then I would want some in the Botanical Garden, so we'd have to buy the permit.  The permit is good for the whole park, so we could do them there, but I'd rather not spend the $50.  NOMA doesn't charge for their areas (Sculpture Garden and front of the museum), so we might go there.  Thanks for the ideas and feel free to keep them coming!

    We just had our engagement pics throughout the FQ this past weekend and it was a blast - I can't WAIT to see them!  Lots of character and our photographer focused on very colorful buildings.  Bystanders were taking pictures and video of us as well, and we were spotlighted by a carriage tour as well, so it was a really neat experience!  We also took a few next to the river at sunset and along the railroad tracks. 

    Your photog will probably have lots of ideas if they've shot in NO before, but ours was also open to any ideas we had.  You can probably gain some inspiration by looking at engagement pics/blogs for NO photographers.
