<div>To your first question: what workouts are you currently doing?  Maybe switch to something with a higher intensity so you feel challenged. </div><div>
</div><div>For weights, my system is something like this: I start an exercise doing 8 reps at X weight for 3 sets. After a few workouts, those reps become easy, so I increase to 10 reps, then after a few more workouts I increase to 12. When 12 reps is easy enough, I increase the weight and drop the reps back down to 8 per set. I've done this for awhile now, so let me know if you need me to expand on this. </div>

  • For cardio workouts you can change it up two ways-duration or intensity.  If you're on a machine like a treadmill or elliptical, try cranking up the incline or the resistance.  If you're doing videos or classes, maybe it's time to try something new.  Keeping it fresh also prevents you from getting bored.

With weights, I like what heyjude23 had to say.  Keep in mind that you can lift for 2 reasons: muscle strength and muscle endurance.  For strength, my trainer has said always go heavier, even if you can only get 5-7 reps out before you get to muscle 'failure'.  That's how you're actually building the muscle tissue.  With endurance, go for 10-15 reps before you fail, generally with a slightly lighter weight.

    Keep up the good work!

  • i am doing step aerobics video...it has  3 parts...right now i am doing the 2 outta 3 the last part is the most difficult..so should i add the height on the step for the 1 part or start the 3rd part of the video?
  • I would do the 3rd part then change the step and weights, and start again at part 1 when part 3 becomes easier.
