Floating Hydrangea

Has anyone tried doing floating sprigs of hydrangea in tall vases filled with water for centerpieces? I'm thinking of having 3 vases (tall, medium and short) filled with water on each table. The tall and short ones would have sprigs of purple hydrangea on top, while the middle one would have a floating candle and possibly be filled with sliced limes. I haven't tested it out yet, but I'm wondering if anyone can provide tips before I try it. Thanks!!

    hydrangeas do well in vases, they need lots of water.  Floating should be fine.

    You'll have a better idea how it looks if you make a mock up of your centerpieces.  Plus it will give you a better idea how much supplies/limes you need, how long they will take to put together, and how long the flowers will last.

    OMG! I'm doing almost the same. I'll have 10 of the 10 person tables, but I'll be doing two different centerpieces to save some $$. My colors are purple and lime. One centerpiece will be one tall cylinder vase filled with water and whole limes, bunches of purple hydrangea at the top, and 5-6 ivory calla lilies shooting out from the top to give the centerpiece some height. On the other 5 tables, I'll have a elongated fish bowl with floating green cymbidium orchids. I wanted much more of the orchids, btu they are way too expensive. I think it will be a great idea! I plan on getting a vase, the limes, and some silk flowers to test it. I drew it out and it looks like it will work, but trial runs are a must. Good Luck!!! Maybe we can share ideas!

    I was thinking about doing the same, I think it is a really neat look, I will be doing a trial run soon!

    You might want to look into using dendrobium orchids also. (they are long stems with lots of small blossoms)  They come in both green and purple and are less expensive than Cymbidimum orchids or callas.  You can submerge them in water, scatter the blossoms on the table(like rose petals) and they hold up for a long time.
