How soon to line up hair stylist and make-up artist?

I plan on a simple hair style (half-up) and simple make-up, but I want to hire professionals. How soon should I line up a stylist and make-up artist? The wedding is in late October.

  • You should start looking now. Around here is normal for people to book 1 year in advance.

  • I answered you earlier but I think TK ate it!  Anyway, I booked mine 6 months out.  Popular MUAs book quickly here.  Honestly, it's never too early IMO.
  • My wedding is the day before yours and I booked mine last month.  My trial is next week.

I booked about a year in advance.  If I were you, I would book soon - especially if you have a certain stylist and MUA in mind.

I just booked mine for my January 2013 wedding.  I thought it was a little early, but it was a nice easy thing to get checked off the list, so I did it.  For October, I think you should start looking ASAP.
  • Thanks, everyone!

  • hello!!! I came across your post and wanted to give you a time line from a hairdresser ... I am in MA and generally you want to book your consultation 2 months in advance that way if you really like how she did your hair and make up, you can make sure you can book with your stylist and she's not completely booked. Last minute appointments can be so stressful for both client and stylist. If your still looking for someone to do your hair and makeup email me and I will give you my number and details. I am licensed and will travel to you to make things a little easier on you. I also make custom hair pcs. Hope I can help you and good luck with your planning. :-) email is hairbyleanna@hotmail.com or leagri2813@aol.com
