Late night snack?

Are you doing or have you been to a wedding with a late night snack? How did it go over? Do you think it's a good idea?

Any ideas for late night snacks?

Our wedding will be at the Landmark Center and caterer will be Deco Catering. Ceremony will be at 6pm (at the Landmark) and there will be passed apps and wine from 6:30-7 while they do the changeover from ceremony to reception. Plated dinner will be at 7:30. Dance will go until midnight, so I'm thinking some food later in the evening would be a good idea since there will be an open bar.

Ideas and opinions?

Thanks!

I don't think anyone minds having more food :) I've seen it two ways: one, an hour after dinner and they had little croissant sandwiches, and two, pizza or fried snacks somewhere between 10:00-11:00. I think people will like it!

I’m planning on having pizza or something like that around 10:00. However, we aren’t doing a cocktail hour with food, so I think it’s more of a necessity in my case and a nice extra in yours.

Suggestions for food: sandwiches, pizza, mozzarella sticks, wings, different candy or nut bowls, meat/cheese/olive tray

We're waiting to see exactly how many people RSVP, if we have extra space in our budget we're going to do milk and cookies at 11pm

One of my cousins had a nacho bar at their wedding as a snack, it was fantastic, we are planning on doing something similar. I also had some friends who did hot dogs, popcorn, and cracker jacks...sort of a concession stand theme. Which was also great!

We plan on having little pizza's for our late night snack, because it's yummy and will help with people who are drinking a lot. :)

We have the option of pizza, popcorn or nuts etc. Unless there is something specific we have in mind. We thought about doing the popcorn - great way to suck up some of the extra liquor in some people's systems! :)

We are doing a late night snack around 10-10:30. We are having light apps during cocktail hour 5-6, plated dinner around 6:45 and will have an open bar and band playing from 8-1 AM, so people will need food :) We will have assorted pizzas.

We're planning on doing sliders, sweet potato fries, and fried mac and cheese at around 10:30

It might not be necessary since you're starting everything kind of late, it'd be different if say you were starting at 5 and dinner was at 6 :-) Your guests will already be getting plenty of food, so I guess just see how your budget is first after everything before adding them on.

We're doing sliders and little curly fries around 10:30...we're figuring on about a quarter of the number of total people when deciding on how much food since many will have left by then or will not be hungry.

Yay! You went with Deco! What did you think of them?!

As you know, Deco did our wedding, too. We had late-night grilled cheese. It was SO GOOD. We also had pickles and various fruits and veggies for people to grab. I think they put it out around 10:30, and it was a huge hit.

I've also been to a weddings with a nacho bar or pizza or subs and that was really yummy, too.

Forgot to add that with Deco, they don't care if you don't use them for your late-night snacks (but we DID use them). I just know that because Soile had no qualms with a haul of pizza being delivered by someone else if that's what we wanted to do instead. She was really supportive of what was going to work for us from a cost perspective.

We thought about doing pizza from Pizza Luce (a personal fave) for our late night snack, but in the end, it just didn't work out. It ended up being just fine, and people were more than satisfied with the apps we had for cocktail hour (5:30-6:30), plated dinner (7:00), and cake (8:00).

I say if you have it in your budget, and it works out timing-wise, go for it, but don't drive yourself crazy trying to figure it out or trying to fit it in the budget.

We had a nacho bar around 10:00 and it was a huge hit! It was sort of a nod to our venue since we had our wedding and reception at Target Field.

We have the same timeline as you & decided to do pizza at 10pm. With an open bar we're trying to over-feed our guests lol.. Apps, dinner & then pizza all within 4 hours :) Word of warning though, be prepared for sticker-shock.. the "extra food" added another couple thousand on to our catering bill.. :I

We did popcorn and it went over really well! It was about $60 total for rental and supplies too for 162 people.

I have been to two other weddings that had a late night snack - one had sandwiches and the other pizza. Neither of these went over very well since no one knew they were there. I would recommend having your DJ or someone announce when it comes out or put it in a high traffic area so people notice they are there.

Thanks for the tips, ladies! If we do it, I think it is a good idea to have the DJ announce it...
