Changing Name After Marriage

Hi everyone!  I have a question about changing my name after we get married.  I want to add his last name on but NOT use it regularly.

So I would like my name to be My first, His Last My Last.  But I want to mostly use My First My Last.  I have a child and it's important I retain the same last name.  Plus, I use my last name professionaly (I'm a musician) and it would be a super pain to change anything.

So, do I just add it on as part of my last name?  Or an extra name?  Middle name?

Has anyone done this before?

Any help you can give me would be great!

Thanks!!
-Mona

    Hi Mona -

My husband & I talked about what I was going to do about my name.  We also have a son and like you, it was important to me that I have the same last name as our son.  I actually changed all 3 names -
My middle name became my first name (I've used my middle name as my first name for 11 years now) & I took his last name.  I didn't know what to do about my middle name since I hated to lose my first name & original last name completely.  Since they both start with the same letter (M) I just have, what I call, the ambiguous "M".

I had to stand before a judge & pledge that I wasn't changing my name for fraudulent purposes.  10 minutes later - new name.

The situation isn't exactly the same, but just to let you know - you can do whatever you want.  Talk it over with your husband.
