Hair trial- do or dont?

I know I am cutting it close to the deadline to get my hairstylist picked out for the big day (May 22) but school has been pretty crazy.  I just called the supposedly best salon in the area for wedding hair styles and scheduled a hair trial.  Then I found out it was going to cost $45-50.  Now I am having second thoughts about if I want to spend that much money for something that isn't even going to be seen!

What do you ladies say? Should I just wing it on the day of the wedding and hope for the best or should I cough up the money (that I really don't have)?  I'll still be able to eat and everything but I know that $45-50 for a hair style isn't really in my budget right now...

    Yes do the hair trial! You're not going to have a lot of time to mess around getting ready the day of and if you hate what they are doing you are pretty much stuck with it.
    I'm getting married a week before you and mine is scheduled for the same day so don't worry about doing it on the 22nd. As long as they are available on your day I don't think it matters that much. And try to make a morning appt so that you can see how your do will do throughout the day.

    I agree.  I think the more you can determine before the big day will ultimately lower your stress level!

    I agree that you should do it. You can go out that same day and look nice with your hair all done. lol. I want to get a trial so that I know that what I am getting will be fab for the day of, but my cousin from out of town is doing my hair so that's not going to happen. I know it seems like a waste but it will bring you peace of mind. Do it if you think your piece of mind is worth 45-50. lol

    def. do it. Sometimes you may see a style in a picture but will find out it may or may not look great w/ your face, or go w/ your veil well. Plus, after wearing it all day, you can tell the stylist where you need more/less bobby pins or hair spray, etc. Make sure you bring someone to take pictures of it so the day of, your stylist can remember what you discussed at the trial!

    I would definitely have a trial done first.  You want to make sure you are going to like the style and on the day of the wedding you probably won't have a lot of time to make changes if you are unhappy!

    A hair trial is really important.  Candi Eckstrom does free hair trials and will come to you on the day of the wedding. To get your free hair trial though, you need to tell her you saw her at a bridal show.

    I totally agree on the hair trial! It's a must!

    Except in my case...I'm having my hairstylist from HIGH SCHOOL do my hair. She's done my hair for every prom and now, my wedding =D I trust her and won't need to do a hair trial...but that's a completely different situtation.

    I'm a bit late in answering but I say a hair trial is important. I knew what I wanted to have done so I took my pictures to the salon on the day of my fitting to see how it would look with my dress and everything. From the pictures the stylist did it differently than I was thinking so I was able to explain to her what I wanted tweaked for the wedding day. I was really glad I did because I was SO happy with how it turned out on the big day and I would have been very disappointed if it had turned out like it had the first time - which would have been on the wedding day if I hadn't had a trial.
    I know budget's tight but I really think at least one trial of the style you're 95% sure you want is well worth the investment. IMO oodles of trials of different styles can really be a waste of money but a single, quality trial is a great idea to make tweaks that you either wouldn't be able to make on the day of at all or would spend loads of unnecessary time making changes and waste precious getting-ready time.
    That was a bit long-winded and roundabout but I hope i got my point across :)

    Oh, and you can see pictures of my hair in my wedding bio (obviously) but there's a link to my planning bio where there are pictures of the trial so you can see the difference it made.
