Groomsmen Gift Ideas

So my DF is having issues trying to find a nice gift for his Best Man/Groomsmen.

He definitely doesn't want to buy them a flask or barware.  It doesn't really suit the guys he would be giving it too.  He also doesn't want to give money clips (who carries cash around anymore?), tie clips, pocket watches, harmonicas, poker sets or man cave items.  None of these guys would use these items.

The only thing he can think of is a nice leather wallet but he is concerned it’s boring.  He bought ties, pocket squares and cufflinks for them when asking them to stand with him but we both agree that this isn't a true gift as they are required to wear them at the ceremony.

Any suggestions to what you groom is gifting to his men?

Thanks!

Re: Groomsmen Gift Ideas

  • Popular advice is to shop like its their birthday - but guy friends are tough to shop for in my experience. I know this isnt the popular opinion on here, but i think ties and cufflinks can be a good gift. If the groomsmen wear suits every day to work, I'd say it is a fine gift, if they are landscapers or electricians, probably not. Guys aren't hung up on etiquette the way women are, I sincerely doubt they would care.

My FI got a tie and cufflinks for a wedding and was happy with it. One wedding he got nothing .  Another wedding he got a $50 gc to stub hub which was nice.

Regarding wallets, only he knows if they would like them.  I've bought my dad and FI wallets and I think it is kind of a personal preference. My dad will only use a tri-fold wallet, my FI only likes the little card slot with a money clip.

What about a hat or a tshirt from a favorite sports team?  If they golf he could get them some balls and tees and a new towel.

Just remember that the gifts don't all need to be the same -- shopping for them individually is much easier!

  • I was thinking something like this would be cool. - http://pinterest.com/pin/52846995597749383/

It's a leather case for their toiletries while traveling.
  • OOOooo, @LizzyRB.  If he doesn't like it, I know my brother/friends that could use it.

Good call!  I'll forward it along. :)

FI was in a wedding a few years ago and all the guys got Ray Bans. They got to take pics with them... and FI LOVED them.
  • FI found these really cool bullet cufflinks. Hes known his best man since childhood it fits his personality. We're also getting the guys something else but haven't decided what yet.

  • It doesn't have to be a keepsake or traditional kind of gift.  sports tickets, concert tickets, something for a hobby like fishing/hunting/sports is also nice.  It is just as easy to shop for guys like it is their bday or Christmas as it is for girls.  Make it personal.
  • I love RedEnvelope.com for gifts. They have a lot of neat stuff for guys, a lot of which can be personalized with a name or monogram. It can be expensive, but their stuff is usually really nice quality.

  • H's weddng party ranged from someone who works construction to a PhD student, and since H is sentimental, he wanted something semi-traditional.  We got them all monogrammed, zippered leather portfolios (that you use to store a legal pad/pen/business cards and can use like a clipboard).  We figured that could be useful during a site inspection or a job interview, and we know that two of the three actually use them regularly.

My cousin's H gave all his groomsmen and ushers high-quality embroidered sports penants for their favorite teams.  I only know this because my dad's company makes them, and he supplied them for them.  I don't want my post to become an advertisement, so if that sounds like something up your alley, PM me and I'll give you more info.
