Any advice would be great

Hello ladies; this is my first time on this board. Here is my story in a nutshell. I am 24 and getting married in March 2013. I had my daughter in June 2011 and still have 30 pounds to loose. I have been working out and watching what I eat. What else can I do? I don't have much extra time because I have to children and go to school full-time. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Any advice would be great

  • Running/jogging. I hate it but it seems to work the best for trimming down.
As far as eating right... make sure you are also eating real. I was counting calories like crazy but there is a certain point where eating better helps along with the exercise. Make sure what you eat isn't too fake (cutting out soda helped to drop 10 pounds). Doesn't matter if it is zero calorie or not. Good Luck!
  • Losing is weight is about 80% what you're putting in your mouth.  You need to go beyond "watching what you eat" and actually track it.

  • Track everything you eat and be honest about it. When my son turned 6 months I joined a bootcamp class that meets at 530am. It was the only time I had to myself, having a full time job and a family to take care of. Eight months later I was back to my normal weight. Good luck!

PPs are all correct :) I would join the accountability board.  Last week was my first week and it really helped me think about what I what I was eating before I ate it.  I was thinking "what kind of post do I want to put tomorrow morning for the girls". They are all really nice and supportive :)

I also think if you feel you don't have time without kids or school make them the exercise.  If eating is 80% of losing weight adding little things to your day will make a HUGE difference.  Parking in the far lot and walking, find a cheap stationary bike on craigslist and read your chapters while biking (should have done this all through college maybe I wouldn't have gained my college 30!), take your kids on a walk for quality time (I took my niece and nephew to a waterfall and we had to walk up and down 350 steps one way 3x b/c they loved it so much), or say you will play tag with them 10 min a day.  Just doing added little things everyday will help :)
  • Have you heard of Myfitnesspal.com? It allows you to track what you eat fairly easily. I have been on it for over a year now and have lost about 50 pounds.
  • Definitely agree with all PPs. I was "watching what I ate" until I actually started tracking what I was eating and could not believe how much I was drastically over eating. I estimating everything and I was so, so off. Once I started tracking my food I made huge progress. Try something like myfitnesspal or spark people (both free) to help track your diet. Remember its 70% diet, 30% exercising so your diet should be priority number 1.

As for as work outs, find something you can do with your kids maybe, like talking long walks or swimming. Work out DVDs for home may be a good option for you too.
