Gift for my Flower Girls

We have two flower girls, one is the daughter of my close friend and bridesmaid and the other is the daughter of the best man. They are going to still be very young 3 and 2 and I was wondering what little gift I could give them for participating? I'm going to be getting them each a little custom made bag/basket with their names stitched on it to fill with petals for the wedding, but since that is a "wedding item" and they are still so young is it OK to also just get them something kid friendly with a thank you note to their parents? Or should we do a thank you to the parents since the kids are still so young? We've got a lot of time to figure it out but it's been a lonnnggg time since I was a flower girl! :)

And I know since they are so young there is no gauruntee they're going to make it down the aisle, toss the petals, not cry, etc. :) We're obviously completely fine with that.

Yes absolutely get them something kid friendly and not wedding related. Most people on these boards will tell you to shop for all your wedding party gifts like it is their birthday. They don't have to match and shouldn't be wedding related. It should be something that each individual likes to thank them for being involved in the wedding.

We got my five-year old flower girl costume jewelry and a dora the explorer doll because these are things she loves.

  • Just get them a small age-appropriate gift.  I'd be inclined toward board books or picture books, but you could also do a toy.
  • Thanks! I asked a similar question about my bridesmaids, my inclination was to stay away from things for the wedding as thats not really a gift for the woman participation - and got the exact response you are describing.

I felt the same for a flower girl but just wanted to be sure it was OK to make the gift child friendly, wasn't surer if we should be planning a token of thanks for the parents as well (although that seems repetitive since we're doing something for them as a thank you for our attendants).
  • It's in my closet, but I got mine a really nice hard "paper" (but not paper) dolll set of Disney Princess Brides. They're 2 dimensional princesss bodies witha  bunch of wedding dolls and outfits etc.
  • We got our FG monster high dolls because that's what so likes.

  • I got my girls dreamlites. That's what they'd been bugging the parents for so I thought I'd buy them as their gifts. They love them.
  • kids like toys, especially little kids.  Our FG will be 2 and we are planning on getting her a build a bear. (we asked her mom and she thinks it would be great)  She is so excited to be the flower girl (although she really has no idea) she just loves her dress and her mom tells me she wants to wear it everyday haha.

  • For a 2 year-old FG, I'd give a toy + money towards future savings. This way, she has something right now (that she probably will only like for a month at most), and something more lasting.

  • You could do really pretty hair bands. get them in the color and maybe the flower you will be using for your wedding. Glittery or what ever. Etsy has tons of them and most are hand made. I use Zorah & Co and she makes them based on what I tell her I want. Plus moms love them because they are really popular right now.
