Best Way to Book a Cruise

I've never been on a cruise before, but want to go on one to the carribbean for new years. How do I get the most bang for my buck? Tips/suggestions for bargaing?

I usually book through Costco or directly through the cruise line. I've googled deals for the cruiseline and then given the promo code when I call them directly.
