hey kelly! i toured there with a friend last year who was looking for venues. i thought it was generally really cool because you get the whole building and there are three separate spaces. the way they framed it for us was that the bar/lounge basement would be for cocktail hour (beautiful french doors that open on to a patio that you can use if the weather is nice). then your guests go upstairs to the second floor for dinner in the dining room. then they come down to the main floor for dancing. in my opinion, it was a fantastic flow and fairly affordable.

potential cons: parking, although the union parking garage is open now and i think you can get $5 parking passes from traffic and parking or maybe from the union itself. also i remember thinking it was a little expensive. the base cost and catering looked normal but extras seemed a little steep. i don't remember the details, sorry.

overall it's probably a perfect pairing if you're still doing your ceremony at browning (that's you right?). your guests could literally walk from the ceremony to the back patio of the faculty club for cocktails.

let us know what you decide!

I looked at the Faculty Club as well. Though, unfortunately, I cannot remember much about it. I did like the patio area and the multiple rooms that  you can use.

Thanks for the info ladies!  I could really just kick myself for planning an outdoor wedding from the get-go and not thinking it through. Of course, between the sticker shock of so many venues and the rate at which they book up it's no surprise.

We are looking at the Faculty Club today, the Fawcett Center and Longaberger Alumni House this week.

    Good luck!!

side note Kelly: I think my friend and I came up with another idea for using Browning for the ceremony.  If you are looking at the stage, there are steps on the back left side.  We are thinking of hiding behind the big trees, then walking up the steps to the center of the stage, and walking up towards the front of the stage. A "faux" aisle that doesn't go between people, but, it's different. If you totally don't understand my gibberish, I'll try to explain better, and maybe use pictures (but I'm at work, so no pics here).

My friend had a fab reception there..Buckeye themed big Alumni and she loved it,  Food was good and mirror lake was great for pics. Parking: there are about 75 open spots out front.   She had a DOC that saved spots in the front for bride and groom and the wedding party/parents.   That was a good idea.
