October 2012 Weddings

too soon for flower girls?

So the stores have been telling us 2months before the wedding is the soonest we should come in to get flower girl dresses.  Due to a bitter Ex we will not have both the girls on the same weekends next month & I know we would not be able to get her for something wedding revolved.  So would this weekend be too soon for a 10/6 wedding to go dress shopping for a 6yr old & a 2yr old?  I know growth spurts are the big concern.

Re: too soon for flower girls?

  • I wouldn't say so. We're having 5 little girls in our wedding, ages 3-9. All of them have ordered their dresses for our October 20th wedding. I think you'll be fine.

  • I don't think its too soon.  I ordered mine already too.  If they are borderline on size I would go with the bigger one.  Dresses can run a little big anyway and it won't really show.
  • We already have ours, so I don't think this is too early.

  • I was going to wait a bit, but my FSIL (her 7yo daughter is the FG) wanted to buy the dress in June, so she did.  I don't think it's too early, but I would suggest buying a size up for the 2 year old, since it's likely that she'll grow a bit before October.

You could also potentially make separate trips with each of the girls.  It might be good for them to get some one on one (or one on two if your FI is there) time.
  • Awesome to hear! Maybe will take them all shopping Sunday!!

Well they're sisters.  And they only get to see each other at our home everyother weekend.    Well this month, we'll be going back to fight this stupid court decision after the wedding.  The older sister is really excited & wants to go dress shopping with her little sister.

  • My FG is 5 and her dress just came in (we ordered it online). It's a little big in the waist but I think that's because she's skinny and small for her age. SIL (FGs mom) has a friend who altered FGs dress for my sisters wedding so he'll likely do it for this one too.

  • WE just ordred ours they are ON there way... we have a 9 year old and 5 year old... our concern is the 5 year old as she is tiny and in a size 5... we ordred the 6 (as they don't have a 5) and will have it taken in etc...

I don't think it is to early...
  • Yeah I say no problems..kids dont grow that fast in a few months. My daughter will be ours she is excited about having a pretty dress...she is 6.
  • you can always take them shopping have them pick out the dress together < we know it will be the older one that actually picks since the other is only 2>  then wait to order them! how long will they take to come in? we ordered our awhile ago my fg will be 5 a month after our wedding... they didnt have odd sizes so we ordered a 6 !
  • We actually went and bought our flower girl dress today. Our flower girl is 3 and was born 8 dAys after my son. Our flower girl is out of state so we put the dress on my son to see the sizing lol.
