  Hey - Mexico has certain requirements, like blood tests, and documents need to be translated.  You also need to "reside" there for three business days I believe.  The all-inclusive resorts have very nice wedding packages and can help you with your documentation.
  
  Personally I would contact BeachBumVacation (Marcie) and have them arrange everything for you.  They can recommend different resorts and sometimes offer upgrades (plus travel insurance and you can make payments after an initial deposit).  There are a few - Dreams, Palace, El Dorado Royale - for different price ranges.  I'm still trying to figure mine out and was getting frustrated enough to want to marry here then go have a symbolic ceremony there.    It's easier to get married in Jamiaca apparently, but I've never been there and am apprehensive that I just won't like it.

  thanks for the info! ill def check out beachbums instead of going thru the resort. i need all the help i can get. like you i thought about jamaica as well but ive heard alot of negative about the area. plus i love mexico have had nothing but good times there so its only natural that i would want to have my wedding there too lol
  
  i was a little suprised when you said blood tests? wow.. they def make u jump thru hoops.

  I got married in the mayan in March, the week after a friend of mine did in  cancun, and it turns out the requirements are different in each area, so make sure you ask specificts when you've settled on a hotel.
  
  We had to just bring our passports and tourist cards (from customs in the airport) and sign paperwork with our planner, and do the blood test.  You do have to be in the country for three days prior.
  
  Our friends had to bring birth certificates AND passports, and she had to have them legally translated ahead of time, plus the blood tests.
  
  So we didn't have to do nearly as much work, although we had to have our marriage certificate translated back here to english from spanish so I could get my drivers license changed. 
  
  A lot of people don't like all the work, and get married at home and do a symbollic ceremony in mexico.  that wasn't our thing, so we did the legal, and it wasn't that much work for us.

  thanks for the feedback guys. im considering taking care of the legal end here in the states and doing the symbolic ceremony in the riviera with a small group of ppl.

  Hello!  I am getting married in Mexico this October but I am not sure whether or not to have it in Dreams Nuevo Vallarta(kid friendly) or Excellence in Playa Mujeres.  We are looking for an all-inclusive, beautiful resort.  Has anyone attended or visited?  We are looking for any suggestions in Mexico. Our challenge is finding a place which will allow his son(17 yrs. old) and daughter(13 yrs. old) to attend the ceremony.  The adult-only resorts are giving us a hard time and haven't been very flexible.
