NFP Question

So I know there are conversations on here all the time about NFP and I am sorry if this is beating a dead horse. I was wondering if anyone knew of websites with information on how to start charting.

There was a mix up with my auto-refill of BCP  and since I can't start that again until I menstruate I figured I would try NFP, which is what I would love to do if it works with my body.

Any advice or information would be helpful.

Thank You

    ditto www.tcoyf.com

i also ordered the book from amazon and it came in like 2 days.

first thing you can do is get yourself a basal body thermometer.  i ordered the one from couple to couple league, but you can also get them at pharmacies.  as you are waiting for the materials to come in, you can start by taking your temp every morning at the same time, upon wakening, to get yourself in the habit.

I'm not sure if I'm reading your OP correctly, but I don't think I would advise doing NFP for only the one month until you start BC again. Most methods advise at least a month of abstinance to get the hang of it and make sure you know how to read your body. Additionally, many people take some time to function normally after coming off HBC, so your one-month window might not give you an accurate picture of your fertility. NFP isn't something you can really do on and off -- it is more of a lifestyle.

That said, I would definitely read TCOYF (I think it amazing) and give yourself this time to consider NFP honestly.

Thank you so much for the information. I am not too concerned about it only being one month off the pill because the last time this happened I didn't menstruate for nearly 6 months and that was only because I went back on the pill. Which is the reason I am on the pill. I am hoping that NFP will give me some insight into my body.

As Jasmine said, most women's cycles will take a little while to normalize after being on the Pill.

Do you have 6-month cycles when not on the Pill?  If so I might recommend Creighton Model NFP, which is taught only by instructors, not in a self-teaching book.  Creighton is often used for women with gynecological problems of one sort or another.  I'm certainly not a doctor, but I do have PCOS and your cycles sound like mine would be if I wasn't taking metformin.  (Or it might have been simply that your body didn't regularize itself within that 6 months after being on the Pill prior?  I wasn't entirely clear from your previous post.)

As I said, Creighton Model is taught in classes...  If you're really set on studying on your own, you could start with TCOYF or the Couple-to-Couple League's self-study course, then if you are having trouble or observe potential problems, pursue instruction in Creighton.

Ditto ppl, Taking Charge of Your Fertility (TCOYF) says there's no way of predicting how long it will take for your cycles to return to their former patterns before you were on artificial BC.  Some women will ovulate within a couple of weeks while some say months or even, in rare cases, years.

You'll learn a lot about your body from what you see in the charts.

TCOYF recommends for those coming off of hormones to ideally begin charting on the first day of the withdrawal bleeding.

@ GulfCoaster I never had regular periods and would have to be put on hormones to get my period, which is why I went on the pill...it just made life easier

To everyone else thank you for the advice
