Pittsburgh Westin / reception venues

Has anyone been to a reception at the Westin? The information they sent me doesn't include pricing. My fiance and I are trying to keep a low budget, preferrably under 10k if we can. Looking for about 125 people. It looks like our main issue is catering costs. Any ideas?

Is the $10K for reception only? If I remember correctly, the Westin is expensive.

You were sent the standard brochure.  As someone told me, "there are no prices because each package is customized to the bride and groom's tastes."  Call and speak with the event coordinator personally.

Good Luck with the venue search.

Under 10k? go and look at the Aviary and the zoo.. you should have no problem. Both are great!

Most of the downtown hotels are fairly expensive - last I saw they were typically running around $100 per person for the reception.

I second the idea about the aviary or zoo!

Yea, I would say stay away from downtown in general. The Pennsylvanian, Omni William Penn, and Fairmont are definitely out of your price range. Not sure specifically about the Westin. I third the Aviary. The fee is reasonable ($1700 for both indoor and outside spaces) and as I've said time and time again on this forum, you can pick less expensive caterers. We went with Bistro to Go for our Aviary wedding since their proposal was by far the cheapest (didn't hurt that we also wanted a Northside oriented wedding since we love our home on the War Streets). The zoo is also a good option, although their caterer was more than we wanted to spend. You could also try the Children's Museum, the New Hazlett, or the Mattress Factory. With your budget I would also stay away from the Heinz History Center, the Warhol, or Carnegie.

    Good luck!
