[QUOTE]What exercises do you do? Which muscle groups do you target, and do you switch it up?  I don't know if I really believe in spot toning but more overall toning and working out.   How much cardio do you do?  If you want to get leaner in your arms, I would say make sure you have a cardio routine and weight training routine.  I have found success in that and I have gotten leaner all over my body doing that.

I jog/walk on my treadmill for cardo and then I normally will have 3-5lb weights while I am doing that... I will use my 8lbs to do different arm routines...
  • Put down the light weights.  And weights are not a one weight fits all thing.

Stop fatiguing your arms unnecessarily while holding weights while doing cardio (it's also not good for you).  Save your arms to really pump some iron with free weights.  Your weights should be heavy enough to do 2-3 sets of 8-12 reps, and you should struggle through the last couple reps (but be able to maintain form).  If you really want to make a difference and can swing it, 1-2 sessions with a personal training will be helpful in giving you a good routine and figuring out how much weight to use for each (hint:  it should not be the same amount for each exercise).

  • ditto Kwith and Stage!  Step away from the Barbie weights!  Don't be afraid of "bulking up" from lifting heavier weight.  Women don't typically bulk up because they don't have the same testosterone levels of men (which is needed to aid in muscle mass growth).  So unless you are also taking steroids, you don't have to worry about this.

Also if you can't swing a personal trainer, you should check out this book called New Rules of Lifting for Women.  Very helpful!
