Cookie favors

Hey girls!

I am an extreme amateur when it  comes to cooking or baking but I really like the idea of having some DIY projects in my wedding, and I think cookie favors are a cute and great idea.

I was wondering if anyone is considering making their own cookies with fondant for their wedding favors?

When would I go about baking them, freezing them, decorating them, dethawing them, etc? Will the fondant last all day sitting out until the reception is underway?

Or would it just be easier for me to pay a little more and have a bakery to bring them over the day of?

    I personally would not want to mess with the fondant. Not to mention, you will have so much going on close to your wedding date that the last thing you want to stress about it baking anything.

    I think the cookie idea for favors is a great idea and is definitly something that people will enjoy. Unlike other favors that some people get and they just get tossed in the trash.

    There is a great event planning company that does cookie favors in Florida and they mail all over the states. You may want to check them out. They usually ship free samples so you can see how they mail and taste prior to contracting them to do the work. Its www.PremierButterflyEvents.com.

    My friend is a hobby baker (her stuff is soooo good) and she is making our cookies, I bought the seashell cutter on ebay for under $3 and she is doing a taste test for me and color test. I made her a bakers chef hat last week she loved.

    If you know someone who can bake and you can trade services or pay for it I love the idea.

    we did cookies in the shape of horse heads (i have a horse) as one of our favors. we had a local baker make them. i would never have attempted to do them myself. she charged us less if we bagged them ourselves, and we did.

    pictures are in my married bio.

    they were a hit :) they were an edible favor, which is highly liked and they were good!

    Totally agree with SNCARTER82.. if you're not a baker, you won't want to deal with the stress of it! There are great cookie companies that will do the baking for you. Check out http://bakingforgood.com ... they also donate a % of your purchase to a charity you choose, so it's a good way to incorporate a donation as part of your favors.

    I am also considering cookie favors, and in the same boat as you.  I would have a baker bake and decorate the cookies- do you really want to deal with all the stress that close to the wedding.

    As a baker that makes couture 3d fondant cookies, I think its a great idea to do cookies as favors.
