Am I going down the wrong path here?

I think I want to change my flowers. Like all the bouquets and boutineers. Do you think the florist will hate me if I call her this weekend with the change?

Right now I have a bouquet of succulents which I love but my florist makes me nervous because she's old and I don't think she really knows what to do with it. I think this other bouquet I want would be simpler.

I also want the change because right now I have succulents and orchids for bouquets but then spider mums for centerpeices. This new bouquet would make everything more cohesive which I would feel better about.

Am I going to annoy the heck out of her for wanting this changed two months before the wedding?

I don't think this would be a problem at all. I doubt she has ordered any materials this far out.

Your wedding is not until July so it should not be a problem. If you were only a couple weeks out it might be because they might have already put in the order.

I think your reasoning is pretty judgmental though to say she is old and you don't think she knows what to do with flowers, which are basically her life. Also, as for cohesiveness, nobody would notice that your bouquet was different than the centerpieces than you. </div>

I am no florist, but I do not think it would make any difference at this point. I doubt she has ordered anything for your wedding since it is still 2 months out. Unless she is the type that grows all of her own flowers instead of ordering them from a grower, I do not think it should matter if you change it now.

I agree with DNB that it's kind of weird for you to assume she doesn't know how to handle succulents because she is old.

I'm sure this is far enough out for you to change things. I think succulents are awesome though and they make really interesting wedding flowers.

I don't think it would be a big shock to imagine an older florist wouldn't know as much about trends, and succulents are definitely trendy.

My mom is "old," but she's done plenty of flower arrangements and bouquets that contain succulents. Don't be ageist, OP. If your florist says she can do bouquets with succulents and you've seen pictures of her work, I don't see why you're changing your flowers.

If you're not confident in her abilities, why did you hire her? I don't change my plans to suit the professionals I hire to do things for me, I hire the professional that can execute my plans or some reasonable facsimile. I agree that you might see yourself with new pricing, due to changing designs and materials, but it's far enough out that there shouldn't be any orders put in yet.

Your centerpieces don't need to match your bouquets. They're two totally different things.

But to answer your question, my florist didn't need anything final until 3 weeks out. So it probably won't be an issue.

Okay I have nothing againist her being old but she didn't even know what a succulent was until her daughter explained it to her which didn't bother me at first but now that I have time to think about it, it makes me nervous. I chose this place because they were inexpensive--flowers are not the most important thing to me but I still wanted them to look nice.

The new bouquet is simple but still trendy which is what I want.

Succulents are plants that hold water inside (succulent means "juicy"), like hens and chickens, aloe, crown of thorns, sedum, jade plants, etc.

Take a look at your florist contract to see what the policies are for making changes or what the cut off is. I wouldn't imagine the florist would have ordered flowers this early, but there could be some sort of minimum price guarantee (this would only be an issue for you if your new arrangements are cheaper than the others).
