About to book Villa Barone Hilltop - feedback!

Hi all,
So we were so close to booking the Fountainhead this week and even brought our mothers along for a 2nd view of the place....and then i decided last minute that i wanted to go and look at Villa Barone Hilltop Manor in Mahopac because so many people I know raved about it, andy my cousin is getting married there this fall. Well we went there a few days ago and really liked it a lot. It offers more options in terms of photo opps and ceremony options compared to the Fountainhead. We need to get married at the venue since its an interfaith wedding.
I still think the Fountainhead has nicer room layouts, a much more beautiful cocktail hour room, and more romantic room lighting than the Villa Barone, but overall I think Villa Barone can offer us more of what we need and are looking for.
ANyway, i would appreciate any feedback you all have about the Villa Barone Hilltop. Thanks!!!

i've never been to that one (i've been to the one in the bronx) but i know of a number of people that have gotten married there and they all loved it. everyone has had very good things to say about them, from the food to the service.

either way you can't really go wrong. it's really more about what you want and what would be a better choice for what you want for your wedding.

I left a few reviews. My fiance and I also checked out Fountainhead and once we checked out Villa Barone there was no question that was the place for our wedding. We booked it for Aug 6 2011. Johnny who we worked with was excellent he explained everything in detail and it worked out so well that they treated us like family and on the wedding day it appears they treat you as a king and queen with exceptional service, food. I would def take this place over the fountainhead. The remodeling of Villa barone in Mahopac looks excellent I think the rooms, outdoors for photos are excellent, cocktail hour seats everyone. Fountainhead came off as needing a lil cleaning. Outdoors at the fountainhead is near a dumpster, you need to guarantee 200 at fountainhead and the what I like most is Villa Barone is family owned and I like helping the mom and pop shops where as Fountainhead is corporation. Mom and Pop places treat you like family Corporations can care less.

I booked VB in August 2008 and it's been nothing but great. An older knottie who is no longer here got married at VB and when I was looking I didn't even wanna look at VB. When my aunt convinced me to, I fell in love. I'm working with Vinny, who's awesome. I am less than 4 weeks out now and I can't say enough about them. The food is phenominal, shrimp arreganata and potato croquette's is what I'm eating for dinner at the wedding, highly reccomend it to the other VB brides. The rooms are beautiful, Tivoli room is my favorite. You will come to love this place, believe me.

DON'T DO IT! their food is inconsistent and service is horrible. They have a bunch of young kids running the place .. we did Marina del Rey in the bronx and let me just say... WOW.. The professionalism and the level of service between the two places is night and day. Just my 2 cents.

I think you have it wrong Marina Del Ray is a corporation which has horrible service and mediocre food. They made their money 100x over so they care less about service. They cater to one table at a time where as VB has 1 waiter per table. You will not see lines at the bar to VB since your table waiter takes care of you faster then standing in line waiting for a drink like MDR. I went to a few weddings there in the past 2 years and after attending 4 of them the service was still mediocre as well as food. I attended 1 Villabarone last summer and it was night and day professional white glove service and entertaining. You will not be dissapointed. Also most guests left the wedding at MDR due to staying outside where as VB is entertaining and no one left and also has beautiful views, fountain waterfall, water "park" down the road for photos, I heard they recently finished renovations. I will be attending a VB wedding later this year. My brother is attending one this summer as well at VB. Also VB treats you like family as it is family oriented the 2 older sons run Mahopac and the father runs BX. IMO I like family oriented businesses and non corporations who do it just for the money. Big difference when you shop around you will see.

i'm getting married at VB in 2 weeks and i can tell you from the experiences that i've had with them this far - they are really great. so helpful and accommodating! they know exactly what they are doing and have a way of making me feel that without taking over the details of my wedding (if that makes sense to you). i have been to past events here, my friends and family have been to past events here and no one has had a bad thing to say. i feel that says something about consistency.

go with your gut ... there are always going to be SOME people that have not so nice things to say, but when the majority of the feedback is positive .. it speaks for itself. at the end of the day ... you need to feel comfortable!

Go with your gut! I have told you over and over again how much I love FH and I didn't like that people said it was a corporation feeling...because it is not at all. FH totally treated us like family there! But in any cae, I never looked at VB because we thought it was too far away from our chapel for us and there are also really not too many nearby hotels...so something to consider. Though in all honesty, I think that some people used hotels in CT so that might not be that bad. So all in all as I said...you can't go wrong with FH, but I am sure VB is good as well! I have been to functions at VB in bronx and it was well done.

I just had my wedding there for 4th of July and it was the MOST AMAZING EVENT I HAVE EVER ATTENDED!
They did everything perfect. The staff was fantastic and the food was out of this world! I didnt have to worry about a thing and I didnt stress once the whole night. I was actually able to enjoy it. They had everything under control. All of my guests said it was the best wedding they had ever been too.
Everyone loved the food, service and just the overall appearence of Villa Baorne. It is absoultly beautiful!
After 3 years of planing our wedding Villa Barone made it even better they we could have ever imagend and we are soo happy we chose them to celebrate the beginning of the rest of our lives together.

I got married at Villa Barone I love it there! The staff is so polite and helpfull and as far as people saying the food is inconsistent i think that is just her opinon.
I have been there for many different types of parties and the food was always amazing! Everyone to this day is still talking about all the food at my wedding and how good it was! The staff at villa barone helped make my wedding day so special ! every detail was perfect. I didnt have to worry about a thing. I would recommend them to any bride that is looking!
