Found my invites

So we finally decided on an invite! My cousin is ordering it from India and then we will go pick them up from her when we are there in Jan. I just need to figure out the wording, but I'm excited to have this done!

I couldn't get just a picture of it.

Very pretty card!! I was looking at it and realized it was square - my cousin who also had a square card warned me against using it because apparently postage on a square card is a lot more expensive than a rectangular card? I haven't verified that, but does anyone know if that's true or not?

I love it too - here's the pictures of it....

I believe postage doesn't really matter if it's square or rectangular, it's the weight that is concerning...  find out the weight of the invitation and envelope first (most websites have it) to determine how much more you will have to pay to ship...

For US, ours was $1.00 per, and for foreign the most was $2.00 but we included a sachel of tumeric colored rice, as a sign of prosperity :)

Square cards do cost more. From the USPS website:

Nonmachinable letters such as square envelopes, envelopes with the address parallel to the shorter dimension, and envelopes containing odd-shaped items cannot be processed on today’s high-speed mail sorters and a 20-cent nonmachinable surcharge is applied for the additional handling costs.

The 64-cent Dolphin stamp incorporates the nonmachinable surcharge and can be used for square greeting cards and other nonmachinable envelopes weighing up to one ounce.

Love the card...and the colour.. Royal blue was the colour we had for our bridesmaids and groomsmen...so bright and unique from the typical indian colours!

Beautiful invite! That's a great idea to have them printed and then be able to get them on your trip to India.

I agree that it's a little more money to mail the square envelopes, can you order a sample of the invites to have it weighed at the post office?

Yea.. It took a long time to pick one and since the invite itself is so cheap I'm sure a little added postage should effect our budget too much. I'm really happy with it and it's perfect.

kpwedkk -- how did you get the pic?

I right clicked on the image, and saved the image to my computer. Then added a picture here...

Okay, so square invites cost more... I agree with having the sample weighed at the post office...  Also getting first class stamps might help a little bit in price if the post office decides to increase the price of stamps again.

I have heard that pending approval, the postage rate will increase in January 2011 with the price of a regular stamp going from .44 to .46 (and of course the other postage costs will rise, too.)

KP - I think you meant to buy the Forever Stamps? Except those aren't as pretty as the "wedding" stamps :oÞ

LOL Raangoli - Wedding stamps... some are really expensive...  so if stamps are $0.44 and there's 20 in a roll, like this one or this one, it should be $8.80, but some stamps on here are $20.95 like this one!

I like this, it's $0.44 and they are purple pansies, with the markings of LOVE on the vertical :)

And there's a special postmark as well which is a wedding cake of $0.61 for 20 for $12.20 - here.

KP - yepp, those are the "wedding" stamps I was talking about. Unfortunately they aren't the "forever" postage. We used the wedding cake one for our invites and the rings for our Save the Dates and the RSVP return envelopes.

Those didn't have a mark up though, like the first one you posted. That is strange that it has that. It's not really custom to me, but it says it is.
