Online retailer- Mongally Bridal Shop

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has used Mongally Bridal Shop or has any information about this company.  The dress I wanted was discontinued and I believe I found it here.  From the website, it looks like they custom-make the dress for you.  I tried looking online for reviews and the BBB, but I can't find anything.  Of course, their testimonials are glowing, but they could just be making them up.  I'm a little concerned because I can't find any information and the cost is so cheap.  Any advice?

Thanks,
-Stacie

Hi :) I've never heard of them. Do a search on the Apparel/Accessories board, someone may have posted about them. If you don't find anything, I'd post your question on that board.

Unless they have a brick and mortar store, it's buyer beware.  I've heard that many of these places say they can get it/make it for you but they are cheap knock-offs with inferriour sewing and usually a no return policy.

Don't throw good money after bad.

This one actually does have a return policy, but I'm still a little leary.

Hi - I just found this Bridal shop online also and am searching for reviews. Did you end up ordering your dress from here? How did it go? This is a huge cost savings and would love to order from here too. Thanks!

    Hi,

I looked around and couldn't find any information.  Everything that I read said that if you have the time, take a chance on the online retailers and since they have a return policy, I decided to try it.  I have about a year until my wedding and the site says I'll get the dress in about a month, so I decided to order it, but I'm still a little leary.  I had my fiance check out the payment site and he thought it looked legit.  Also, I actually tried the dress on in a store, but turned to the web when it was discontinued, so I know what it should look like.  If it doesn't look right, I'll attempt to return it.  I just ordered it on Thursday, so if you can wait a month, I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks! That would be great! I have plenty of time, my wedding is not until 11-9-12, so let me know how it goes! I've heard of several aquaintances recently who purchased online like this and they all said it was totally worth it. Good luck to you! I can't wait to hear about it!

OMG! Finally found some inquires about Mongally Bridal, thought I was the only one lol... The dress that I want to purchase is like $300 bucks cheaper Money mouth on their site and I thought about ordering asap, but I'm very scared. My wedding is May 2012 so I have a little time not much, but if you could pls let us know how your dress looks that would be a very big help. I emailed them too, so hopefully I'll get a response soon, just inquiring about the store and policies. Laughing

I have also discovered this website and am nervous it's too good to be true.  I'm also thinking it's worth a shot because of the amazing prices and 30 day turn around time.  Please let me know if you find out anymore about this website.

I've used inweddingdress.com before for a custom made evening dress to wear to weddings. I sort of was testing them out for before I go and order a wedding dress. I was VERY pleased with what I got, but I think the key was that I spent the extra $10 for custom made. The dress fit like a glove and confirmed that I will definitely be purchasing my wedding dress through them! My only complaint was that they said it would take 1 month to make and ship and it took more like 2 and a half...

    Hi everyone,

I got my dress today!  The verdict- undecided.

Pros- The dress was exactly what I wanted.  It was made of quality fabric and it looked just like the one that I tried on.

Cons- There were some snags in the satin.  Some of the flower appliques are unfinished- the ends of the threads are just loose.  There was a small dirt mark.

Since they have a return policy, I contacted them for an RMA number and I received an email back asking me to take photos.  This might be where I run into problems.  I love the dress, so if they give me a hard time, I will probably just live with the flaws, but on your wedding day, you want to have things as perfect as possible and you don't want to start with a dress that already has problems.  I'm not sure if the unfinished detailing and snags are par for the course or just an unfortunate error on my dress.  I'll let you know how the return process goes.

I guess if you're willing to live with a few minor flaws for a dress at a fraction of the cost, go for it.  If you want the perfect dress, wait to see how things work out for me.

    Best of luck!

Did the dress come on time?
  • edited December 2011
Actually, the dress came early.  They said 28 -33 days which would've made it the end of October.  I ordered it September 22 and it came in October 12, though no one was home to receive it until the 13.

  • HI
I am also looking at Mongally Bride to purchase a dress - please can you let me know how the return policy went?
After a bit of digging, I have discovered the testimonials on Mongally Bride are also on copious other online bridal wear websites. Now I am as sceptical as ever
  • Thanks for sharing this.  It has been very helpful.  My dress costs $1,150 and another place is willing to sell it for $850, Mongally has the same dress for $350 so I was wondering if I should order it from there.  But couldn't find any reviews other than the ones on the website which anyone can have their friends post on it.  Can you please let me know how the return went?  Were you able to return it/ exchange it?  Did you get what you wanted?  Thanks.
  • Hi Everyone,

I am a bridal consultant at Exclusively Bridal in Oregon. I came across this discussion and just wanted to let you know what I know.

We carry most of these companies in our store and the turn around on most wedding dresses is 16 to 20 weeks. This is a turn around that the companies like Maggie Sottero and Eden have for ALL their vendors. So if you are being promised a dress from one of these designers that has a 30 day turn around you are either getting a knock off or a dress that they have bought and either stored until you came along or tried on a dozen  brides trying to sell it. The likelyhood that they have stockpiled these dresses so that you can order and have sent to you so quickly is highly unlikely. Discontinued dresses would only have one or two sizes available tops. Therefore, you are most likely looking at a knock off.

On the other side of things, if an online store does not have a brick and mortar store also, they are breaking contract with designers. The trickle down effect will eventually harm the designer and they do not allow it.

When in doubt: Call the designer!  Send them an email!

Ask: Do you sell dresses to this bridal store? This is what tey are telling me, is it legit?

And check with local stores, ask questions of the people in the industry.  Yes, you may find dresses cheaper online, but usually you get what you pay for.

Hope this helps everyone. Congratulations on your wedding and God Bless!
