Hi ladies!!!
I found an original idea for favors to make apple pies in mason jars. We are getting married on November 19 and I thought the would be cute for our fall theme. We are having about 120 guests and would probably make one per couple. So that would mean making about 80. They can be made ahead of time and frozen until a few days before.
Am I completely crazy? My fiancé definitely thinks I am!
Thanks!

Re: Mini apple pies for favors?
What did you decide? I too am getting married on 11/19 and my color is Apple Red from David's Bridal. This is a great idea. I had also found a red candle that is 2 inches tall and in a nice container that I considered as well. Just not sure what to do.
You could do the same with Apple Pies in the tart pans. Aluminum is oven safe.
The only thing for your November wedding is its probably more formal than my "fall outdoor" theme wedding.
So, you could take organza or something like that and make a "bag" for the mini apple pies and tie the top with ribbon in the color of the wedding party, and attach a "thank you from So-&-So" card in the ribbon.
Hope this helps!!
I know exactly what you mean by the "Am I crazy" question. I posed it a few months ago about my mini cherry pies (my colours are red and cherry pie filling from a can is completely acceptable tasting to me) - pastry being HOMEMADE by me was a must since I'm picky about pies!
I've downgraded in size to cherry tarts to cut down on the bake times and assembly.
Tips: Fruit pies can be assembled in advance and frozen until ready to bake! Or if you're short on freezer space like me: Pastry can be made in advance and frozen until day of use.
For 140 tarts its going to take me an entire afternoon to create, bake & box (about 4-5 hours).
Do some test runs so you know what to expect the day of assembly! Go from creating to baking to any cooling time and assembly and do the math.
I totally love the heartfelt homemade ideas and think its worth the time and effort.
If you have the time - DO IT! Way nicer to get something edible and homemade than more 'junk' for the shelves at home!
