Two Things

1. I got all my invitations sealed, stamped and addressed, now to just throw them in the mail. I'm not sure if I'm going to wait until after the holiday weekend or do it now. I really don't want them to go out too early.

2. I'm having my hair and makeup trial run this weekend. It's at 10am, should I shower and wash my hair and not put on any makeup? I know you are not supposed to for the real thing but I wasn't sure for the trial. Also should I tip her?

Thanks all!

Re: Two Things

  • Wow, congrats on the invites!  If you send them now, they'll probably get there before the weekend.  Most of mine, even in other parts of the state, came the next day or two.  If you're nervous, wait until next Tuesday, although there might be mail piled up from the long weekend.

Wash your hair the day or evening before, depending on how dirty your hair gets.  Don't add styling products.  If you want the makeup artist to see how you apply makeup, show her a picture of you where you like how your makeup is done.  No need to apply makeup that day.  Good luck!
  • I'm going to wait until after the holiday to send mine out (July 7th is our response date), so it gives people about a month to figure out if they are coming or not. To be honest, I'm kind of hoping to get a few regrets because we are over capacity for our venue and I'm FREAKING out that we're not going to have enough space for everyone.

Maybe wash your hair right before you go to bed. If you blow dry it or try to straighten it, your stylist won't be able to see its natural state (and it's really tough to curl hair after it's been straightened with an iron). Definitely don't put any products in it.

Make sure you take them to the post office. When I got my stamps, the lady told me to bring them back to have them hand stamped so they don't have to go through the machine and get all smashed. I thought it was a good idea.

  • Congrats on getting the invites done!! :)

Also, I agree with PPs to wash your hair the day before, and don't add products or straighten it.
