Candy Buffet

Has anyone used a candy buffet at their reception? I am thinking about having one and was wondering if anyone knows of anyone in NM.

I am having a candy buffet at mine! We were originally going to go with Gourmet Candy Buffet (they are local), but after doing some research and finding some of their actual pictures of events they have done online (the ones on their ad in Perfect Wedding Guide are actually someone elses pics), have decided to have my FMIL do it instead. She is so amazing and creative, and the things she's planning on ordering for it exceed all my expectations! Good luck to you!

Thanks for the input. I noticed that too with Gourmet Candy Buffet, I just don't want the stress of having someone set it up, then take it down and worry about it on top of everything else.  Heard there was a new one in town so I may do some research on that on. You're so lucky your FMIL has the time wants to help!! Best of luck to you, would love to see pictures!!

Seems like this is something you can do easily yourself without paying someone to do it.   (I am considering doing this but I want it to look appropriate for a wedding and not like you are at a birthday party for a 5 year old.)

Buy cheap vases, apothecary jars, etc at stores like TJ Max, Marshalls, Hobby Lobby or you can even find some at second hand shops...Goodwill for example.
Buy your own candy in bulk.
Make a little vignette as to exactly how you want it to look....what candy do you want in what containers.
    Take a picture.
Repackage the candy into ziplock bags.
Hand over this duty to a family or friend the day of.  They can use the picture you took as a guide as to how exactly you want it set up.

After the wedding you can sell those jars you bought to another bride...me? ...or use for future parties.

i think candy buffets look cool, but do people really eat the candy?  and yes, a DYI candy buffet would seem to make more sense than paying someone to put candy in a jar.  i sort of just don't get why people have them...

I was at a wedding in June and the candy buffet was very popular.  So popular that by the time I made my way over there (2 hours into the reception) there was no candy left.  Each place setting had an empty bag that you could fill on your own.  Those empty bags were too large though and people literally filled them to the max and so later folks didn't get much.

Now that I have given more though to the candy buffet I say - DATED and OVERDONE.  Save it for your future kids birthday party if you are going for some colorful candy display.

I went to a wedding about 8 years ago and they had an awesome display of apothecary jars and vases surrounding the wedding cake table.  Each jar was full to the brim in different white candys and treats...white m&ms, marshmallows, white covered chocolate pretzels.  It was very elegant looking.  At that time though I don't really think people knew what to do with that and very little guest dug in.

Anyways, the more I think about it I think if I were going that route I would want it to be elegant and not some colorful matchy match to my wedding colors display of crap that people don't need to be eating anyways.
