Rehearsal dinner invites...

Is anyone else doing these?  Everyone else thinks they are a waste of time, but if they're free then I think they are cute..and show more of our personality than the stuffy invites.

I'm all about free!  I think you could do either.  I don't think sending them is stuffy at all.  We don't even have a rehearsal dinner location yet (we can't come up with a compromise, it's been a touchy subject), so we haven't even discussed invitations yet Undecided.

I didnt for mine. We kept it all pretty small and simple: Immediate family, biological gparents, bridal party and their SOs. It was simple enough to call. The way I see it, they have to be at rehearsal....so let em know where theyre going after.

But I agree, if theyre free and you dont mind mailing them out....go for it

We're planning to send them.  I figure a simple Vista Print invite for 15-20 couples/families will be pretty cheap (or free!) and I think it's nice to give everyone the info in written form.  I'm planning to do a "Regrets Only RSVP" for it as I assume most people getting the invite will be attending.

I was hoping my FMIL would take charge of it as she's handling most of the details of the dinner, but I said we would do them if she wanted.  And that's what she wanted!

Since so many of our guests are from out of town, we're doing more of a welcome dinner instead of a rehearsal dinner. It will be a really informal cook-out, but since we could potentially have a ton of people, we're going to have them rsvp in some way. Either by including it on the wedding invite, the website, or a separate invite.

I've seen lots of cute ideas for rehearsal invites on weddingbee. They often theme them to the restaurant i.e. a cactus shape for a mexican restaurant or something fun like that. I say-do it!

LOL, thanks!  What a nightmare.  I wanted something laid back and fun because our reception is formal and FI's parents are afraid people are going to think they're cheap.  Soooo, we're having a difficult time because this place doesn't have a big enough room, or it's not the right kind of atmosphere, or somebody doesn't like the food, blah, blah, blah.  I'm ready to just take myself out of the equation.
