How long for photographer?

I'm very confused on how long I sould have my photographer stay.  One I have been looking at offers 8, 10, or 12 hours.  I want them to be there long enough to get pictures of everything I want without feeling rushed, but at the same time I don't really want to pay all the extra money if they end up leaving 3 hours early.  The only difference in the packages is how long they stay.

How long did you photographer stay?  Was it enough time for all the pictures you wanted?  Do you wish you had them stay longer?

Re: How long for photographer?

  • really depends on what you need and want. Do you want pics of you getting ready, doing hair and makeup? Pics of the dress hanging in the room, or your groom and his buddies hanging out before.  Are you doing pics of the bridal party before the wedding. Travel time is included too so if the location is different for the reception then you need to consider that. Just think of the specfic pictures you really want.
Mine is meeting us at the church and doing the reception so all I'm getting is 5 hours but my reception is only 5 minutes away. I figure most cameras now a days take decent pics so i can take a pics in the room and  of the dress myself saving me money that way.
  • Shoot for 8-10 hours if you don't have an over-the-top wedding! Beautiful images can be made within those times.

  • Our photographer will probably be with us for about 9 hours.

If this is a concern for you, there are many photographers out there who do not charge by the hour.  Maybe consider looking at one of them.
