UNITY CANDLE VS SAND CEREMONY?

Is it normal to do both the Unity Candle and sand ceremony? I had plan to do the unity candle with just FI and the sand ceremony with my son, FI and myself. What are you ladies doing?

We are planning on doing just the sand ceremony. Our venue is too windy for the unity candle. I think that we would have just done one or the other though rather than both.

I think that we are doing it without participation of the kids, but this isn't necessarily my final answer...

I am just doing the sand ceremony. Although I like the idea of the unity candle and I know it's more traditional but I like the idea of actually being able to keep the jar with all the sand poured into it. Right now I am looking for a jar with a lid. I know you can keep the candle but I hate the thought of lighting a candle symbolizing unity then you blow it out...well you don't but eventually someone does.

Are you ladies using your wedding colors for the sand? My wedding colors are purple and orange but nothing in my house would blend with that so I been thinking of switching my colors out for something I can display in my home that will match.

Yes, I have consider that. I think I will do a trial to see how it looks.

I love your idea of doing them both. We are doing the sand ceremony also to unite myself, son, and FI as a family and using our wedding colors to symbolize each one of us. I will use, purple, my FI grey, and my son white. Our vase is a heart shaped glass with stopper which is perfect for a keepsake.

What is a wine ceremony? Also, can you share why your friends regretted the sand?

Wine ceremony-
1. get a bottle of wine that was bottled the year you met or year you got married.

2. Place it inside of a fancy box or something.

3.Write each other notes about your love / or use copies of your slef written vows and place them inside of the case together.

4. Whenever you have a fight open the case and share a glass of the wine while reading the notes.

5. Repeat

One friends sand container broke and she was soooo upset, she literally told me she felt like she was sweeping her mariage away( theyre fine) when the sand container broke.

Another hates it because its a hassle to move and it doesnt really have a place in the decor anywhere in the house. Of course she keeps it and tucks it in the corner but she says she feels it was a big waste.

I love the sound of the wine ceremony. I have NEVER heard of that before and its unique. See, now imma need to run that by FI and I bet he will want to do PATRON....ummm NO! LOL.

Lol , FI suggested Henn. He said we gonna need something stronger than wine when we fight lol. But I loved it because you get to let the wine age as your relationship does! And we're getting it bottled at a local vineyard

Y'all are funny!!! Our colors are purple and orange too. I was going to use our colors, but realistically... I wasn't even planning on keeping it. I figure it'll be in some pictures somewhere or at least in our memories.

And we can just drink a glass of whatever when we fight!!! or when we wanna do something else (not that we need a drink)... ok, that really IS TMI.

We are doing a sand ceremony over the unity candle. Surprisingly, this is something that my FI suggested, he says he didn't like the idea of blowing the candle out. I went on the Hobby Lobby website and found a picture frame that we could use for the ceremony. It is kinda like a shadow box where we can have our wedding picture and have the sand in the background.

Hey Ladies...we are doing a sand ceremony. My colors are chocolate brown and turquoise, well more like a tiffany blue....and I too plan on keeping the jar we put the sand in.
