IMO, I like anything that is edible.  That way it's a sweet treat, and people aren't going home with stuff with your name on it, that will likely collect dust.  It can be expensive!

I'm doing buckeyes from Buskin bakery.  A lot of my guests are from out of town, so they get to try something local, and new!

We did a candy buffet with candy purchased from Minge's (small wholesaler downtown) and it was a huge hit.

As a guest, I prefer something edible over a trinket as those usually just get thrown away. I have received candles though at weddings and always keep those.

We are doing koozies that say, "Eat, Drink & Be Married" We have an open bar at the wedding, so if guests have a beer or pop, they can use the koozies that night! If not, they'll be able to take it home with them & use it later. Edible favors is always a safe route to go though!

Definitely do something edible--most anything else is left behind or will be thrown away.

We did heart-shaped Dove chocolates wrapped in tulle, and beacuse I'm from western PA, we also had a cookie table with bags for people to take home.  I went to Target the day after Valentine's Day and bought the chocolates half-off.  Candy clearance after Halloween, Valentine's Day and Easter is a great way to get wedding favor candy--the "use by" dates are generally 10-12 months out, so just keep it in a cool area and it will be fine by the time of your reception.

The last wedding we attended had a cookie table and candy buffet, which was great.  Another wedding we attended had pumpkin bread baked in flower pots.

We're hiring a caricature artist to do drawings for anyone who wants it.

Food is always a winner too.

My mom and I made homeade apple jelly, and homeade black raspberry preserves.  We made them for my sisters wedding 3 years ago, and they were a HUGE hit.  Edible is always good!

We got these sugar cookie "wedding cakes" from Spoon Fulla Sugar bakery.  They were SO good!  They can even flavor them too if you want.

i totally agree with the edible favor idea! but for whatever reason i didnt do that. lol

we had a photo booth and i did koozies to that said " to have and to hold and to keep your beer cold"  My venue had canned beer so i had them give the beer in the koozies..

i was worried nobody would keep them but i only had 10 leftover from about 200
we had a wedding of about 250 people..

We are doing a candy buffet and possibly also a Photobooth. Most weddings I've been to have the favors at each place setting. We spent hours putting stickers on little boxes and filling them with EXACTLY 11 choc-covered almonds for my sister's wedding. I like the idea of allowing guests to pick the type of candy they like, and it will also be a pretty, decorative piece at the reception!

How fun! Caricatures are something that not everyone does since they're usually something you pay for i.e. at Kings Island I think they are $10-$20 each

I'm thinking at this point about nixing the favors (budget, blah), but I may end up doing something with my great-grandma's famous cookie recipe. My mom has making them down to a science so maybe I'll bag some up for each person...

Thanks!  Let me know if you want his info.  We wanted something unique!  I'm thinking of making cookies for the hotel welcome bag.  So I'm not really saving myself any work.

Edible is always good!  We did chocolate covered pretzel rods.  They were very popular--you can make them yourself, but we didn't want to deal with it, so we got them from "A Sweet Life" in Colerain.  She did milk and white chocolate and drizzled them in our colors, and even bagged and tied them for us.  Awesome.  And for $1 a bag of three, 110% worth it.
