Re: What is your current freak out???

  • So my current freak out is my fabric pomanders. I've made them before this so it's fairly easy and routine for me by now as I made them for my SIL's wedding. However I waited longer to start them than I wanted to and now with time literally flying by and so many appts and things to do in these last few months i'm freaking out about having them all done in time as i'm making quite a few of them. I'm also freaking out about not having my wedding jewelry picked out yet. I just can't find a piece that I can see myself wearing.

  • I know what you mean about projects and stuff! I thought I'd have alllll this time and I realize that time is running out! This month I need to finish my invites, BM hangers, and favors.

I think my biggest freak out right now is the music. We discussed everything with the pastor, and he said secular music was fine, but he still wanted to approve it. So I sent him a list of lyrics (a few songs for while guests were being seated had words) and a CD, and he didn't like any of it! He said it wasn't "festive" enough! I'm like, festive is apparently relative because, no offense to anyone using Canon in D, but it is not exactly festive sounding IMO yet it's a perfectly acceptable wedding song!!! I guess he just wanted something more "traditional" but I don't get why. Most of these songs people use in weddings were used in operas or plays in 1600-1800, not meant for church or weddings! Secular is secular, so I feel like he is just inserting his opinion because he doesn't like them, not on moral or religious grounds. Obviously the stuff we chose is not blatantly offensive, but he said no to "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles because Lennon was an atheist. UGH really? Whatever.

Ok sorry rant over. That felt good to get that out!

  • I am only slightly worried about the fact that I had ordered a wedding ring and then they came back and said it couldn't be sized down enough, so I have to start all over with that.

I need to order the placecard/favors and buy all of the vases, and FI and his people need to get their outfits ordered.

  • I'm freaking out about not being able to fit into my dress and/or not being able to sit down! Hopefully i'll be able to stick with my new year's resolutions and avoid that though.

I'm also minorly freaking out that I haven't seen the invite designs (my friend is designing them, and i'll print & cut them at work on the weekends). I'd like to get this done the next few weekends so i need her to hurry up so I can mail Feb 1!

  • My biggest freak out is groomsmen attire - fi is still on the fence whether he wants the guys to rent tuxes or go with nice black suits they already own since all of his guys are already flying in and paying for hotels. We are going to mw and jos a bank today so at least he can have a tux picked out if we do go with that option. I also need to start working on my boxes for oot guests at the hotel b/c I'm making a pretty detailed design on the little boxes and also doing the same thing to put at every seat of the kids table with fun activities inside. My invites should get back to me in about a week from the calligrapher so then I can stop worrying about that once they are done and in my hands. Such little things can just freak us out - it's really soo silly but I can't stop myself.

  • Alterations, Alterations, Alterations!  And it doesn't help I found another dress to absoulutely DIE for!  Oh well, ready for vows and honeymoon!
  • My freak out right now is that everyone is wanting us to do the sand ceremony instead of the unity candle. I'm all for it, and love the thought of the keepsake vase, but we want to include our kids, and we have four of them total! Ages from 14-3. I am super stressed trying to find the vases and sand that is durable for a family of 6! Add the fact I still don't have my flower girl dresses, and I'm about ready to snap!!
  • I'm with quiggles.  Groom's attire.  FI and I talked about it and he'll be wearing a linen white shirt and khakis for our beach wedding.  As for his BM and my uncle (walking me down the aisle) we have no clue.  I talked to a photographer friend of mine she said do NOT put them in matching shirts/outfits and that maybe we should do different colors of green for them (i.e. mint shirt for BM and sage for my uncle).  I like that idea, but not sure dress shirts will look ok with FI's linen.  Thoughts?  Help/ideas?

  • Pretty much everything you all have mentioned. Groom and groomsmen attire, fitting into my dress, cost of alterations, all the "little" projects that still need to be done because I thought I had so much time, wedding bands still haven't been purchased, need to book our honeymoon (anyone going on a cruise out of Miami?)

I really cannot wait until we get our tax returns this year and then I can finish paying EVERYTHING off.

  • Well it sounds like everyone has a couple but nothing major which makes me happy for you all!!!! We are going in the next week or so to finalize the guys wear but hey guys are typically easy in this department so for those worried on that front it should happen fairly easy and quickly.

  • Our wedding was recently moved up from June 2012 to April! So pretty much nothing is done! I do have my dress, our rings, his uniform, my jewelry, cake serving set, and bouquets. But that is literally it. We don't even have a venue because our date won't be set in stone until just weeks before. I'm really not stressed out yet, I'm great at last minute planning, and were keeping it pretty simple. My only freak out would be the guest list, since we both have huge families and the venue we want can only hold 80 :/
  • Can I say my biggest freak out is...everything!! Actually, I've had an issue with people trying to invite themselves. Plus, my FI has a lot of family that feels they can control him & tell him what to do.

My most recent freak out was that my FI was told he needs to move out of his brother’s home by March. Our plan was for me to move out first & then for FI to join me after we marry. It will be very difficult for him to live on his own with no car & still get to work. His brother & SIL are really selfish. Ugh! Hopefully we can find something soon.
  • We are, but not sure exactly when! Hopefully right after the wedding! I am going to need to get away from everything by the time this is over! Lol!
  • Well...my fiance hasn't officially picked his groomsmen yet!! He said he'll have them picked this week. Then it's attire - we're going w/ black or dark grey suits. AND the rehearsal dinner isn't booked... :)

  • It's actually my groom who is freaking out. Once January hit, he was like.. "woah... we're getting married soon." Haha... now that it's the YEAR of our wedding, it's all becoming real for him. I simply told him "Welcome to the club!"

  • My biggest freak out is our rehearsal.  We won't know the date for our actual rehearsal at the ballroom until our 30 day meeting with our venue, but it will be a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.  Most of our wedding party won't be able to come to our rehearsal since they are coming from out of town on Friday night (our wedding is Sunday).  Sooo, we may have to hold a "rehearsal" of the ceremony on Saturday and have it somewhere else.  That will be interesting!

Other than that, my freakouts are reserved for my DIY projects, most of which are half done.  :)

  • I an having the hardest time picking bm dresses! It's one of the last things on my check list but I just can't find something I think is springy and flattering. Plus I have a problem with my fsil's friend who keep begging to be a groomsman....

<div>I've never been out of that port either. What cruise line are you doing? We are currently deciding between a 4 night on Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Seas and a 7 night on Carnival Glory. I have cruised before (once on Disney and twice on Royal) and I absolutely love it! Especially Royal Caribbean.. it's amazing! I'm worried about being dissapointed with Carnival though. FI has never cruised before so I know he is going to love it! </div><div>
</div><div>Any opinions on the two different cruise lines is welcomed! </div>

  • little late to the party, but needing to vent:

    groomsmen attire
figuring out what my dad is going to wear
worrying what his mother is going to show up in
    settling on bridesmaids dresses
    not having invitations finished
not knowing how many people are coming
worrying that my stepdad is going to get into a fight with my dad or FI's parents
worrying that I'm going to get into a fight with FI's parents
    settling on music
    finding a DJ
    finding a videographer
    finding a cake
    getting in shape
worrying that my dresses won't be done in time

and I think that's it.  Now I'm going to go drink a bottle of wine at 3:40 in the afternoon.

<div>You can always pick a color, length, maybe a fabric, and a designer (DB, AA, etc), then let your BMs pick their own style. This is what I did. That way everyone can pick out something they like and can see themselves wearing again, and you take away that stress of having to choose ONE style that looks good on everyone (read-very difficult and stressful!). </div>

  • I guess I'm kind of freaking out because of all the details.. We have all the big stuff done (location, officiant, dj, photographer, caterer, guestlist, invitations, dress, bm dresses) but when it comes to details like decorations, song list, flowers (my mom's doing them but what kind), cake, centerpieces, general timeline for the day, rentals, where we'll stay on our wedding night,  etc etc I could go on and on. My accessories, bm & gm gifts, diy projects, etc etc, aaaaah!) So much left to do and I haven't started any of it.  :(   My FH and I work together and both just got promoted.. we barely have any time for wedding details lately and won't for the next few weeks till we get back to our regular schedule!

ok phew that was a little vent, felt good. :)

I just feel like I'm so behind compared to others.. I have a few girlfriends right now that are getting married this year too (some even months after us!) and they are further along in the planning.
  • I'm with em01092--music! I hired the choir of the church we are getting married in, but they sing at several churches around the city and are fairly busy, so the choir director has yet to get back to me. We still need to meet to decide what will be sung! Yikes!
  • My biggest freakout is my invitations, alterations and music! I can't seem to find invitations that I like and I can't really afford to have a calligrapher or someone else do them. I'm afraid I won't fit in my dress and I still haven't figured out the music for the ceremony!! AHH!
  • As soon as January hit I just started freaking out about everything. Now that Ive read some of your comments im freaking out Even More because things that most of you are concerned about I havent even thought about yet!!

My most recent worry/nightmare is that we wont get the invites out on time and no one will show up. Im still waiting for my FI's family to give me a list.
