rsvp date

My name is Brandy. We will be getting married in Dallas.  Wedding date set for October 28,2012. I dont do much posting on here but i read alot and love yall's advice. I am trying to set my rsvp date so that i can get my invites and rsvp cards printed. What is a good amount of time to give my guests to respond?

Two months is a good frame.  I think The Knot recommends 6-8 weeks for responses.

Give yourself some time to call people who don't RSVP -- it is almost inevitable that you will have lots of stragglers (I think I had to contact 50 people after our RSVP date).  Stuff gets lost in the mail, people forget, it happens.

Check your contracts with your caterer and find out how far out you need to give them your final headcount, and give yourself a two week window.  For instance, if you have to give a final headcount two weeks before the wedding, then make your RSVP date four weeks out.  That way you have time to call and follow up with people that didn't send their RSVP's in.

    Good luck!
