Mexico

Anything I should make sure I pack with me when we go to Mexico for our honeymoon?

Re: Mexico

  • Lip Gloss with SPF!!! I went a while back and my lips got so burned because I was wearing lip gloss without SPF in it.

  • Great thank you so much, first time going and want to pack what is totally needed. :)
  • Swim suits, coverups, sun screen, chapstick, sun glasses, reading material, a hat, music, zipllock bags to avoid your stuff getting sandy, bug spray, etc

I just went to Mexico about a month ago. I recommend a hat, it gets very hot down there and the sun is unrelenting. I'm not sure where you are going but I would bring bug spray just in case since it can be muggy in some areas.

I'm not really sure what activities you are doing, so I can't really give you a better list. Have fun! I love Mexico, everyone is very accommodating.

  • Biodegradable sunblock!  A lot of excursions require it, especially if you will be going into a cenote or near a reef.  Have fun!
  • absolutely biodegradable sunscreen!!

dh and i go every year and some things i've found over the years to be must haves: not bug spray in a bottle but wipes. easy to put into your bag and smell great ( i like thee off naturals or something like that-they smell great and work so well), neutrogena make up wipes. not only good for removing make up but great to bring to the beach or on an excursion if you get sweaty etc...-nice to wipe face and body down and smell great. your own mask/snorkel (and find) if you plan on doing any. using snorkels that other people have used grosses me out and the masks never fit quite right. a bag that you can bring your stuff to the pool or beach with that closes on the top. also one or 2 packs of sink sized tide. great to use for washing right away if you spill or get a stain (actually we do laundry in the sink while were there so we only pack about half of what we need to bring). a few swimsuits (at least 2-wear one, wash, leave to dry wear the other one the next day).

  • great hints about biodegradable sunscreen - I have been worrying about getting burned while going on excursions involving cenotes! Is there somewhere special that you can buy biodegradable sunscreen?
  • Great question I was going to ask the same thing. :)

  • I bookmarked this thread from trip advisor just the other day. There are some great suggestions and packing advice. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopicg150812i23k3833638My_Tips_What_are_YoursPlaya_del_Carmen_Yucatan_Peninsula.html
  • There are certain chemicals that are ingrediants in the sunscreen you want to avoid. There are some brands that list as biodegradeable, but others you can just look at the back for the ingrediant list (I don't know the specific ones, but if you google it you can find the list).

I got a bottle at CVS that said it was all natural, and free of the ingrediants we want to avoid. You should be able to find some at places like Target, Walmart, etc.
  • Great thank you all so much!
