Bridal Shower??

MY MOH called me today because she is ready to mail out invites. She asked me do I think I should register any where I had been thinking about it and I will if she wanted. She said well she had a theme in mind. We decided we both would think about it and talk later. Of course she won't tell me her ideas. I don't want to make this hard on anyone. I remember posting on here awhile back about how I feel bad that people will have to buy a gift for shower and the wedding we're doing wishing well for wedding for whoever wants to participate. A few people were talking about how they did a particular them and people purchased gifts based on the theme. Any ideas on how I should handle this please let me know. Thanks

You should register for stuff that you want regardless of the theme. A major theme for bridal showers are the aroundthe clock themes where the gifts are around the time the guest was assigned. Otherwise if she was doing a lingerie shower u wouldn't need anything from a registry. Or they Have a kitchen shower where people bring all household kitchen items.

in my opinion, it's always better to have a registry with a few things like towels, linens etc than to have people bring you random things. The point of a shower is to "shower the bride with gifts". If you trust your MOH to throw a shower that wouldn't leave you with random things because you didn't register, then go for it! Also when you don't register, folks do get the hint but then there are some that refuse to give you a money or gift card and buy you a picture for your wall that you don't need...lol.

I am glad you posted this.. because I was unsure if I should register.. We are older and I dont really know what we could really need..

But I do feel that if you were going to register...you definitely should so people can get you what you want and not what THEY think u need..

You all have valid points. We already sent out invitations to the wedding with a poem about the wishing well and people have said they loved the poem. We stated only if you wish to participate. They liked the fact we didn't say monetary gifts only. I am 36 and FI is 40 so we partically have everything. Yes we could use some new linens. We really need new bedroom and living room furniture. Bedroom is a combo of his and mine so it would be nice to have some new stuff that matched. Living room furniture FI had before we got together which was over 12 yrs ago. I purchase slip covers awhile to go to give the furniture a different look until we can buy a new set. So that's what we really need. I like the idea of a theme like Bedroom theme or honeymoon theme and see how creative people will get. I like surprises...I know I may get something that I may not like, but I don't know if I am going to mind that at all. Then on the other hand I feel like maybe I should register for what I really want. Right now I can't think of a lot of thing but I bet once I get in the store I won't have a problem. Lol Decision...decision. I am a indecisive person if you all haven't figured that out yet. Lol

Oh, once you get in the store, you'll definitely find something to register for! In addition to bedding and towels, my FI loves to cook, so we registered for new cookware and a standing mixer. We also registered for vases and new everyday place settings since we already have formal china.

I see where you're going with that but I would still do a little registry. Some ppl wont give $50 because they feel its not enough but would happily buy or charge a panini maker for you. My MOH put a nice little note about where I was registered and VS gift cards for my shower. Oh those gift cards were a blessing. A few older ladies brought me white towels for the honeymoon night but that ship has sailed lol
