Registry Issue

One of the places we registered is Macy's. I was very excited about all of the things we put on there. I feel like they're decent products and I made sure to go through there for all of our linens, versus Bed Bath and Beyond.

Problem is, they keep discontinuing the things we put on there. I hate looking at my registry b/c my shower is coming up and I don't want to see what's been bought but at the same time, I have to stalk it b/c products are always "unavailable for purchase" and underneath it says I need to "select a replacement item". This is really annoying. I am especially ticked off today b/c we registered for a beautiful bedding collection that I couldn't wait for and now it's not available anymore

We only finished our registry there a month ago so it's not like we registered a year ago. Linens are the one thing I like to do in store b/c I like to feel it and see it in person. I can't keep making trips to macy's to pick new items!

Does this happen everywhere? I haven't had this problem with BB&B.

I had that problem with Target, which is one of the reasons people say not to register there. We could not find everyday dishes we liked else wear or a comforter since what we registered for were discontinued, so we are still without.
Hope you find something that stays.

I avoided Target for this exact reason. I thought of using them as a 3rd registry but I heard that they have a lot of "seasonal" items. I just bagged the 3rd all together. I'm at the point that I'm wishing I would have gone with Crate and Barrel as a 3rd. My shower is next week so I can't really do anything about it now. That's why I'm pissed, I won't be able to get to Macy's this week. I'm considering adding Crate and Barrel but I feel like it's pointless b/c unless people view my website, they'll have no idea. Ugh, I'm just annoyed lol.

This happened to us at Macys HOWEVER, it ended up stuff was mostly just discontinued online, but still available in stores.. actually it worked out because the stuff was then on sale most times in store, so people could buy more for the same cost.

UGH this is happening right now with me with Macy's! They discontinued all our towels- which we registered for last week! I was really upset, so I just added towels onto our BBB registry in the colors we had wanted. It's also happened quite a bit with the kitchen stuff we registered for. FI loves Martha Stewart's line, but they keep changing things and discontinuing items. I am actually really unhappy with it all- like you, this was the same reason I avoided Target. I kind of wish I had added most of our items to BBB instead of Macy's.

The exact same thing. We registered for Martha Stewarts Hudson chinaware. About a month after, they discontiuned everything online, so my family rallied together and went out and bought everything we needed-- and got it all discounted!
the funny thing is, I ws just in Macy's at the KOP and they still have a bunch of the plates and stuff. I picked up a couple extra at 75% off the orginal price. Booyah.

Started my registry at Macy's online. when I went to the local store for someone else's shower I printed out my registry too to check out some of the stuff in person and not one single item was there so I cancelled the registry. BBB was out of half the stuff we wanted by the time we had the shower and Target has practically nothing but grocery in their stores around here. Frustrations all over!
I thought the saving grace would be registering at Liberty travel for "contributions" for the honeymoon but only 2 people did.

I've shopped for a lot of showers recently and no matter where it has been its been impossible. I think the economy is causing the stores to cut inventories and that's why stuff is hard to find or discontinued real fast.

FI had it right from the beginning - register at the bank ;-)

haha Laura, I think your FI has something there. I am disappointed now b/c I took off our entire bedding collection and registered for a different one. I was so pissed yesterday that I didn't record the name of the last one. I liked the first one so much better. I should have waited to take it off. Now if I want to switch it back, I'll have to go there which isn't happening this week. It will be impossible to get there before my shower. Our closest full sized Macy's is in Cherry Hill which is just too annoying to get to. The sad thing is, we were just there on Saturday b/c we had our cake tasting in that area. It's not the end of the world, just annoying. I just hope this doesn't happen with anything else.
