Oh nooooo

So you all know we are moving pretty soon?

I just realized our mistake when we ordered our invitations back in December. We put down our CURRENT address on the response envelopes and we are moving in 2 weeks. We need our new address on the response cards, DARN it!!!

I am online with the invitation lady and she is going to re-do our envelopes. Thank god, but it's probably going to cost us a little bit of money. I'm just glad we did not put down our return address on the actual invitation envelopes- just on the response card envelopes.

  • omgggg that is so stressful! i would have total had a panic attack if i were you! thank god you were calm and are able to get everything sorted out :) we are just using my parent's address since we will be moving soon and aren't sure where we will be!!
  • Oh I know!! I would have freaked out and died if I found out just when we assemble our invitations or something. Or even waiting for the RSVP cards to arrive and wondering why they're not arriving. Oooh scary thought.

  • At least you caught it! That is totally stressful, though. We are working on our invitations right now, actually. I'm having some massive issues with wording for our brunch replies. UGH. I will probably ask for some help with that later today, if anyone is around (I need to get some work done right now!).

If you notify the post office of your new forwarding address, they envelopes will get to you at your new house if you accidentally end up sending out the wrong ones.
  • I am so glad you caught it!! But I would definitely have to agree with Penny make sure you set up a forwarding address with the post office. They are valid for a year and that will make sure that anyone who has your old address and not your new one can still get the stuff to you. It'd stink if things went to the wrong place!

i am stressing about some brunch issues too! are you inviting everyone? or just OOT guests and wedding party? we don't know who all to invite, but our brunch space only holds 60 people TOPS and we aren't sure how to handle it or how to invite people or how to get RSVPs back! so yes please start a new post with brunch issues as i can use all the help i can get :)

At least you realized this, and theres a relatively easy solution!
and like PPs said; make sure you let the post office know, and they can help make sure they all get to the right place, just in case!
My friend getting married May 12 had her BMS help put the invites together, and one put the stamp for return envelopes on the wrong side! They do seem to come back to her eventually; but it was really frustrating for her.

ETA: i totally meant stamps. return envelope stamps. oops.

    How did that happen????

  • Well there is a "free" solution to this.  You are getting all your mail forwarded to your new address right? If so, all your RSVPs can be forwarded there if you don't buy new envelops.

No thanks, I don't want to worry that some of the RSVPs will get lost in the mail or that I'll get them way too late. I'll pay $45 for a peace of mind! :)

  • $45 isn't that bad & definitely worth the peace of mind!!  At least you realized that now, and not right as you were sending out invites.
  • FI and I are thinking of putting an offer on the house and the first thing I thought about was envelopes and how we have to reorder them all.  I think mine will be more than $45 oh well it is what it is.  I wouldn't rely on the mail forward because sometimes they screw it up and there's a delay to get them by a day or so.  I don't want to call people thinking they didn't rsvp but they mailed it in the week before!

Honestly this was the LAST thing we'd ever think of!! You guys are smart :) Actually, you could just get plain address labels and print them on your own and cover up the original address on the envelope? I thought about doing that but we'd need at least 2 labels to cover up the original address and I have a huge bad luck with printers!
