Foundation question not for wedding

Hey ladies,

I bought the clinique superbalanced foundation. I like it because it's not overly matte and hydrates the dry areas on  my face. So I went out last night and used it. I was in a club and took pictures and when I saw it my face was white looking. In person my face looks fine.

It looked awful. I don't know if it was the lighting or maybe the shade was too light. I had a girl at a makeup counter test the color before I bought it and it did match. She put it on my jawline and it looked fine even when I went outside to look. It was a bit cloudy that day though.

So what's up with that? I'm thinking of returning it for a darker shade. I did not test out the darker one when i was in the store because I thought the color I have now is fine....help?

Re: Foundation question not for wedding

  • Do your own test. It could be the lighting... I'm sure you've got a cellphone or camera.
Put on your foundation and try it with & without the flash, indoors & out. Then you'll have a better idea.
  • Does it have sunscreen in it?

If it has a high SPF the zinc or something in the formula will cast a white glow when a camera flashes because it's reflecting the light.

No it did not have sunscreen. It did have mica and titanium dioxide though which apparently reflects lightas well. I don't know if that's true.<div>
</div><div>I'm going to return it today because I was just so turned off by it. I have my shower coming up and other events prior to the wedding so I want to make sure the pics look good regardless of any lighting. My family and friends will probably take pics of me and I can't fix the pics. I had to edit the ones I toook with my friends and itmake it darker so my face did not look so white. </div><div>
</div><div>I ws thinking of getting MAC face and body foundation. any thoughts about it?</div>

</div><div>it was probably some ingredient in it to make it reflect light. even if a foundation doesn't have SPF in it, it can still look poorly in photos.</div><div>
</div><div>mac face and body is not going to give you coverage. it's a very light coverage foundation that can be built up a little bit. if you want to look good in professional photography, unless you have near perfect skin i don't think that would be the foundation to use.</div><div>i really like my Makeup Forever HD foundation, plus it's built for photography, and it looks great.</div><div>i attached a pic of me wearing the foundation in a photograph</div><div>

    <div>Hey there,</div><div>
</div><div>I actually went out and got the MAC body and makeup plus the blotting powder.</div><div>So I tried it on when I got home and so far so good. I honestly do not have a lot of blemishes (actually i don't have any) or uneven skintone. I do have a bit of visible pores but they are getting smaller thanks to my clarisonic mia. </div><div>
</div><div>It has a very light coverage and I would say good enough for me to use on a daily basis because it looks very natural. I took pictures with just the foundation with flash without flash and it did have a bit of that shine, not greasy though. I found I have to set my camera to indoors rather than automatic. It looks good so far but better with the indoor setting. I then put on the blotting poweder also from MAC. It looked even better with flash and no flash regardless of what setting I have my camera on.</div><div>
</div><div>I have to see how it looks when I'm out at night to see how it photographs in dark places but I think it will be ok when it's sunny out. I'm not doing my own makeup for my wedding or engagement pictures either way I don't want my foundation to look heavy. so we shall see.</div>
