Downtown hotels

Getting ready to block some rooms for my September wedding, which is at the Taylor Mansion (on e. broad, just east of I-70). Since there's not a ton of parking & there will be lots of drinking, I was hoping to find a downtown hotel... with a shuttle. Any ideas?  I'd rather do this than hire a shuttle, but so far I haven't had any luck!!

hyatt on capitol square, the westin, crowne plaza, the renissance.... just call them and see what kind of deal you can work out. im sure if they have a significant number of ppl spending the night it will be in their interest to do a shuttle..... i will say though that cabs are cheap in downtown columbus. usually no more than$5 a person

I was looking for something really similar, and ended up being disappointed by the total lack of downtown hotels with a shuttle.  I can't recommend enough using Experience Columbus to get all the hotels to contact you in one go with their quotes and shuttle availability.  http://www.experiencecolumbus.com/meeting-planner-contact.cfm

It's free and super handy.  I emailed Vineetha (see the link), she does the wedding hotel blocks.  She'll ask you a couple questions about what you want to know, and email all the downtown hotels for you!  I got about 10 responses in 24hrs, and I didn't have to reach out to them all myself.

I ended up picking a hotel based on the room rate (cheaper!) and it doesn't have a shuttle :(.  Something to deal with later...  HTH

Great advice, thank you! I will defintely touch base with Vineetha - I made a few calls on my own, but haven't gotten far because the 'group sales' department usually works the same hours I do! I might also look into taxi vouchers - a lot of the downtown hotels have a parking fee, so if I can take care of a shuttle/taxi for the guests, it would save them $$ & save some room at the ceremony/reception.... hopefully!!

I am also working on this right now (my wedding is at Franklin Park, so same vicinity) and I think I am going to end up using th Holiday Inn off Towne St.  They have a good rate($89 or $99 with breakfast) and they have a totally free shuttle for you to use as long as you book I think 5 rooms.  My contact person was Diane and she is super sweet and easy to work with!

I second using Experience Columbus.  Vineetha was great.  I told her what area I was looking in, what rate I'd like and the hotels emailed me directly with the rate they could offer, parking cost and shuttle availability.  There were a coupld downtown that did have a shuttle--Crowne Plaza, maybe?

My guests are staying downtown and there was no free shuttles to be had. Since ours is within walking distance we said ok but I did find that hotels north of downtown, I think at sawmill and 71? had shuttles and didn't mind going back and forth to downtown so that might be an option to look into.

I also used Experience Columbus, and it was a great asset. I also want to recommend the Columbus (Renaissance) hotel. We worked with Michelle Holmes there and she was a PEACH. We had some rough experiences with the Courtyard Marriott downtown and The Renaissance even offered to help us solve our problems with the other hotel!! Our guests all loved it, and we had our first night there. TOTALLY loved them.
