I need help finding a cheap venue

I have family catering for our wedding and the major problem is all the venues I've been to in Tampa,Brandon,Plant City,Valrico say we have to use there vendor. Family gifting us free food and we have $5000 total budget is really hard. We have a 6mth old son and were trying not to go into his college fund or our house savings. Need help. I thought about doing an outdoor ceremony in a park and setting up a tent for a ceremony in the same area. I have no idea where to even start with that idea. I also thought about doing our ceremony in our brother in law back yard but then there's an issue of parking. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. My brother in law is paying for alcohol, my dad is paying for the dress and a friend is doing the photography and we already bought our rings. Wedding is 11-19-11

If you post this on your local wedding board, located on the left hand menu of this page, people from your area may be able to list specific venues they know of for you to look at.   This is an international board so most of the brides here won't know your area very well.

You may want to consider that if you go with a park or tent rental, you have to deal with the electricity and other things to keep food warm.  You need to make sure that the logistics don't take up too much of the budget.

Where I live in Michigan, there are actually a few historical sites and farms where people either rent out buildings or barns and they allow outside catering.  Maybe something like that would be an option.  You can also look into local masonic buildings, vfw/legion halls, or other community buildings.  I've actually seen some community centers with lovely facilities.  If you haven't looked up anything like that, maybe try it and you just may strike gold.

    Good luck!

Both allow you to bring in your own food.

A lot of places allow you to bring your own food, you just have to make some phone calls. Your budget is totally doable with all the big stuff already taken care of.. no need to rip off junior!

check out the davis island garden club. they are really affordable. You can bring in your caterer and you get the place for the whole day.

If you caterer has a license you can look at bayanihan arts and events center. hth

The Cuban Club in Ybor City allows you to bring in your own catering, so you might want to check there.

I've thought about doing my wedding at "Push Ultra Lounge" in St. Petersburg. It's downtown and has a rooftop for the ceremony. Very cool space - above Red Mesa Cantina. They let you bring any caterer you want. I believe for the rooftop and inside area is a total of $750 for the space. They have furniture etc already, tables and couches outside. The only thing they're kinda pricey on is alcohol. You have to use their bar and it's like $14/person per hour!! That didn't leave us much left over for food and everything else and we have a budget of $7,500. So, I'm still looking for a venue, but if you already have food taken care of, you may be okay?

Thank you all for your advice. It was greatly appreciated, we decided to go with the Tampa Womens Club. We were able to see the location, huge kitchen tables and chairs included & it was right on Bayshore and in budget.
