Cruise?????

I have my heart set on a cruise for our honeymoon. But I have heard lots of talk about pirates getting on cruise ships and stilling all the passenger valuables. And just yesterday I heard it on the news. For anyone taking a cruise for any reason, do you worry about this?

    Unless you are cruising in the Indian Ocean, you should be fine.  Where was the cruise ship in the news that you just heard about?

    All my cruises we in Bahamas and the Caribbean, and I never felt threatened.  The only trouble I hear about for pirates attacking cruise ships is in the Indian Ocean.

    Sorry I don't know where the cruise ship was from the news. The one we are going on is to the Caribbean. Thank you all so much this has helped me to stop the panic attack. LOL.

    I think I found the article you were talking about.  It was a British cruise ship that was in the Indian Ocean attacked by Somali pirates.  The boat easily/quickly got rid of them (I think with a sonic horn).  Even in the Indian Ocean, for the few cruise ships that have been approached by pirates, none have been able to board the boats because of safety measure that the cruise lines have. 

    So feel safe to cruise in the Caribbean, Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, South America.... pretty much anywhere but certain parts of the Indian Ocean (and even then it is a small percent that get approached).

    That thought never crossed my mind before our cruise last winter.  I wouldn't bring many valuables on a vacation in the first place.  I thought we were completely safe on our cruise!
